   Booked for Afternoon Tea, with a gift voucher of £100. Restaurant manager was helpful but ended up sitting in an area called a conservatory but more like a glass corridor. The £31 afternoon tea was 3 finger sandwiches, cheese, thick ham and egg, a smoked salmon scone, 2 little cakes and a small meringue, a scone jam & cream. The sandwiches were ok but fridge cold and a bit dry, the cakes were ok, the smoked salmon scone was fridge cold, only spread with cream cheese on one half, too big as a savoury really. The scones were awful, they had been microwaved to warm them and overdone so the centre was burnt and hard, and oh so dry. Even the very nice blackcurrant jam and cream couldn't take away from the dryness. We had a pot of tea for two, had to ask for extra milk, no offer of a fresh pot or even hot water. The whole voucher had to be spent in one go so we added 2 glasses of sparkling wine, taking the bill to £88. The £12 remaining being the service charge (12.5%) and tip, which we wouldn't have left if we had a choice. No one came to see us, ask if everything was ok, offer extra tea etc. All in all a very disappointing experience and not worth £100.

   Lovely venue and very helpful staff. We had a cream tea for 2 with a glass of sparkling local wine (which we didn’t get!) Personally I don’t think I would pay that amount again for what we got, the salmon on a small roll was inedible and the sandwiches were literally a 1/4 of a piece of bread with filling each. The scone wasn’t particularly fresh and the cake offerings were tiny. The breakfast tea was lovely, and the service fabulous. So all in all don’t bother with the afternoon teas over priced, just not worth it. But service lovely so go and try the hotel, Spa and main meals.

   We love this restaurant and the hotel. The building is so historic and atmospheric. The restaurant is always good and the staff are real gems. We love Sunday lunch here and and dinner never disappoints. Midhurst is a lovely place to walk around to build up an appetite before enjoying the spoils that the Spread Eagle has to offer

   Fabulous afternoon tea - lots of options and they were quite happy to cater for different tastes and slightly fussy eaters by preparing sandwiches that were non-standard, so that we could all enjoy it together. It felt very special

   Excellent dining experience. We us the Spread Eagle when ever we are able for lunch. The afternoon teas are also excellent. The staff are brilliant. They go out of their way to make one's experience special.

    Had afternoon tea with my friend and colleague. We were celebrating her birthday. Horace and his staff ensured we were given the best attention and service. The tea was delightful and delicious. We were seated by a roaring log fire ad it was perfect. Will come again
