Arrived at 12.15 for a 12.30 booking, confirmed by Open Table, to find the Sly Fox closed. Went to the Black Dog in Broadmayne, excellent food and service. Informed that the Sly Fox had closed down some two weeks previously. Very annoyed that Open Table accepted my booking and confirmed on the day. I would have thought that in today's world of instant communication that should not happen.

What on earth??? Booked this place as staying at Haven Seaview down the road - we had passed it and thought it would be ideal for evening dinner. Swung into the car park, which was ominously empty!! All shut up and locked up!! How on earth could a booking be taken for a restaurant that is no longer open????!!!!!!!

It would have been good if the restaurant had been open ! I had confirmation my table was booked but when we arrived the place was closed . NOT good for their reputation . I will try it again but not impressed that they hadn't about closing on line booking & a message on the answer phone would have been a good idea as well Regards Helen Drury

Booked as it advertises a 7 day Carvery, no times stated, booked for 7 people at 5pm, sat down at our designated table and the area smelt disgusting of stale beer and musty smell, tables were sticky, cutlery needed wiping as was full of watermarks, the waitress took our drinks order, and when came back with the drinks we were asked what food we would like to order, we stated that we all wanted a Carvery, only to be told they don't do it that time of the day, 5pm?!?!, hence we said we didn't want to order off of the limited menu and asked for the bill, which was £19 for 7 drinks, of which most were soft drinks, being on holiday we were looking forward to having a Carvery, it should state the times the Carvery is available as we had 7 disappointed people.

This has to be my worst dining experience I have ever had, We visited on Saturday 26th August and I do appreciate that Bank Holiday weekends can get busy but the service was absolutely terrible. The staff lied to us about delays and were really rude. As I said I realise that things can get busy but when we phoned up just an hour previous to check the booking was ok, we were told nothing of any delays what so ever. So when we arrived at 20:00 to have our meal to be told that there was, and had been all night a min wait of an hour we were not impressed! When I said to the staff member if we had been informed of this earlier, we could have eaten elsewhere he just said well go somewhere else then (LITERALLY!!) and the rudeness continued to the point where I had to involve the Manager, one who would not come to the table but just hid!! and just offered two of us out of the 8 of us a free drink to make up for the delay!! Laughable! The only person who did try to save the disastrous meal was apparently a manager from another restaurant who was covering. She was even disgusted at how the other staff member spoke to us and promised to speed up the order (probably just to get rid of us) which she did but when the food arrived the portions of some of the meals were tiny and and most of the meals were cold but we had waited so long and were so hungry we just ate them, well apart from my chicken burger which was cold!! The other manager did at least get everyone a free drink but this really did not make up for such a poor meal and terrible staff who in my mind needed a good talking too to find out if a customer facing role is really the best job for them. We were not the only people complaining, and attempting to find the disappearing manager that evening. Needles to say we will never be eating there again and I shall do my utmost to make sure no one else I know ever eats there!!

Very poor. Hardly any staff, apparently a lot off sick. Advertises carvery meals, not available on the evening we went, told only available lunchtime though nothing to show this on menu or advertising. Meals we wanted we're unavailable. If the restaurant was too short staffed to offer adequate service, I would have preferred to be told in advance so I could choose to go elsewhere. I had booked in advance so my details were known if needed

It was obvious that the waitresses were under staffed. Service was slow, although they were able to seat us early. There was a sign warning of no walk in dining that evening due to bookings, however there were lots of empty tables. The food was good however, and the kids playground is brilliant.

Restaurant good but booking made via 'open table' had not gone through and staff say it can take 24 hours to show on their system, luckily they were able to fit us in but system needs improving to be instant otherwise it's pointless, it would be better to phone.

All I'd say is don't bother stopping here. Major let down. Has so much potential but staff are clueless and the food is poor and over priced. Needs a major shake up.
