   Food options were limited. Chips were all nice but the chicken burger was noticeably dry, and the fish for the fish and chips was a little salty. Service quite slow and no one came to offer us pudding or more drinks. Are in the Restaurant area which was very hot and you it was not permitted to open the windows! Disappointing overall

   Quaint building with different bars/rooms, and outdoor space in a large garden filled with tables. Access roads are narrow and village is picturesque. Menu was short and simple, and the chalkboard was out of date. Ham and eggs became egg and chips as they had no ham. The fish was not available. I had the pork pie which was hot, with shortcrust pastry, and very enjoyable. The barman/waiter was amiable but inattentive. White wine was cellar temperature rather than from the fridge. General impression was of a venue not ready for visitors. Maybe they are busy at weekends or evenings, or in the summer?

   Having flown in from Australia we were tired & hungry but determined to enjoy a traditional pub dinner. We weren’t disappointed - friendly staff & customers made for a great first night in the UK 😊 Highly recommended 👍

   Service and food outstanding. Loads of GF options too, cannot fault it. Brilliant kids menu and the staff were so kind and attentive to them also.

   Friendly and welcoming staff in this lovely quaint pub. We had a couple of drinks and dinner in the charming old bar. Great local to visit.

   Our roast dinners were ok but rather than provide a tiny portion of half a dozen vegetables (one carrot, one parsnip etc) they would be better serving a decent portion of fewer vegetables. Also gravy should be served separately and not automatically put on everything. Whilst staff were all friendly the service was lacking. We had to ask for cutlery, condiments, sauces, water glasses. They seemed to lack any forethought. Having provided the bill we had to go to the bar to pay as they didn’t return to our table. In summary there wasn’t anyone who seemed in charge and responsible for the table service.

    The Ship was warm and cosy when we walked in and received a friendly welcome. The menu was diverse yet not overwhelming. Although we were disappointed (but not surprised!) that the pigs in blanket sharer was sold out, we had the bread and oils instead which were unbelievably good - it made us go home and try to make a similar bread! The best bread, butter and oils we’ve gad in a ling time. The mains came out - pie of the day (chicken and chorizo) and sausage and mash - and we were blown away. Everything was cooked so well and tasted amazing! The food was the best part of our entire weekend holiday and we would eat here again inna heartbeat!
