   Excellent real ales & service. Food needs much improvement, was not very averse to cold peas. Not worth travelling 9 miles to again.

   The quality of the ingredients was not great. In particular the lamb was anemic. I would rather spend more for better roast meat.

   I believe it has just been taken over by new management. My husbands pork was cold my lamb was also cold. Roast potatoes were hard. Would not recommend it. Mary and David Blake

   Had a lovely lunch, 2 x Fish and Chips, and 1 x Gammon, Egg & Chips, large portions, look forward to going back again soon.

   Honestly was lovely, staff was so efficient and friendly. Food was delicious (had the Sunday lunch)

   Just Had Lunch & Very Over Priced Rating Out of Ten I give this a Two. Other Restaurants or Pubs that do Sunday Lunch don’t Charge Extra for Gravy or Veg. Extra Meat Yes but that’s ok. The miscellaneous part of the Receipt is Desert & Extra Yorkshire Pudding. Also I asked for a few carrots & a few peas and I got a massive spoonful of each the carrots I could of lost a tooth. Cauliflower with cheese wasn’t that great either would of been nice with some cheese sauce

   This must have changed hands since we last visited as the food was not what we expected. The website still shows as the high quality bistro type food rather than the standard pub grub that it now serves. I’m sure the food tastes great but we were really disappointed as it was not what we expected

   First visit and we loved it. This is now a new favourite pub lunch place. The food is excellent - simple but superbly cooked. The Sunday menu is roasts but I can see why as in not having loads of options, they produce excellent food. The service was the best we’ve had in Colchester, far exceeding all of the so called gastro and high end offerings. Plus they were excellent with our toddler. Lovely decor too.

   Really lovely place and the staff are helpful and friendly. Good portion food and really flavoursome dinner. I would definitely recommend.

    Very good homemade food. Limited menu but perfectly good for a Sunday lunch. Very friendly staff. Will definitely visit again
