   The service at The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman was like a warm summer breeze rushing over you to create a relaxing experience. My mission during my life has been to experience Afternoon Tea wherever I am in the world . As a Tea Master I appreciate high quality tea leaves served in a china vessel. The benchmark for the style of Afternoon Tea is a traditional English Venue - The Lanesborough Hotel, Knightsbridge, London. Sandwiches and scones are delightful. The Capital Hotel, Basil Street, Knightsbridge, London is perfect for one or two in the Tea Salon. Perfect tea foods and carefully selected leaf teas.

   4 of us reserved a table due to the Silver Palm being listed as a "cigar bar" and their menu listed small plates. However, when we arrived, the waitress explained that we were set up for "afternoon tea" that was at a table outside the bar itself. We explained that we were there for the small plates, not tea. The waitress appeared upset since they had set the table for afternoon tea. We asked her about cigars - they have a small humidor and they were on the menu and we asked to be seated in the bar, where there were multiple tables empty. We were told that if we wanted cigars, we had to go outside to a small veranda that overlooked the pool. So, we ordered cigars and drinks and went to a small cafe high top outside - where, due to the wind, it was virtually impossible to light the cigars. We waited about 15 minutes for the waitress to return to take the food order. During this period of time, several people came up to the railing to see the pool area and had to be physically almost touching us to do so. When the waitress came back, we told her that we would just pay the bill and forego the food. She took the time to tell us about their sports bar - which we were not interested in - and their other restaurants - which we were also not interested in. We then left, went to the Marriott, and had sushi and small plates, drinks, and were waited on by 3 members of the waitstaff. Just a hint, Ritz-Carlton, don't call yourself a cigar bar, if you don't allow anyone to smoke a cigar.

   Tea, Tea, Tea! What a wonderful afternoon tea! My husband and I really enjoyed the tea and pastries, which were delicious and beautifully presented. There is a vast tea menu, and we only wish we weren't in a hurry for a spa service right after, because it was worth a long stay and second visit.

   High Tea was a true pleasure. Clearly a lot of creativity and talent when in to preparing the food, it was beautiful and delicious and the staff was so welcoming and kind.

   I would love to give this experience a 5 star but unfortunately I found a piece of sausage casing in one of the sandwiches. Pointed it out to the waitress who brought it back to the kitchen and all we got was a sorry. No exchange for a new piece or any discount was offered. Little disappointed as the expectations for Ritz was much higher than this.

    From the moment we arrived we were treated to impeccable service. The silver palm is hands down the most elegant, tasty and wonderful high tea I've had anywhere I've traveled. There is a plethora of teas to select from and the waiter and kitchen staff kindly substituted one of the standard sandwiches for our party due to a food allergy. Additionally, the staff went out of their way to add a special touch for the birthday we were celebrating by adding a plate of gold dusted chocolates with a candle and chocolate letter wish to our spread. A definite must-do when on the island!
