   This is such a nice comfortable place! An awesome bar with great drinks, wonderful wine list (with every bottle at a high Quality to Price Ratio) and reliable food and service. The dining room is such a nice to have a meal.

   We love The Retriever! The cozy and comfortable dining room beyond the bar is at once elegant and casual. The food is outstanding--my husband had the shrimp and grits and I had oyster sliders. We ended with warm apple strudel. Prices are fair and the service is friendly and efficient. Because the bar out front is large and very popular, there is a moderate noise level, but nothing that makes conversation difficult.

   It’s a nice little place, food and service is pretty good. Much too noisy and tables too close together. I could barely heard my guest.

   Wife and I are in town for my daughters visit to Washington College - we stopped at the restaurant and it did not disappoint. Awesome atmosphere, food was excellent - oyster were banging and then we stayed for some drinks at the bar afterwards.

   We had 8 for dinner on Saturday night and all had a great time! Our server knew the answers to all manner of random questions, like "which beer is like that one other one I had that time" and "I can't deicde can you please tell me what to get" 🤣. We had about 8 apps, a bottle of wine to stay and one to go, one dessert (great apple strudel), 4 sides, 6 meals, a round of shots, a wide variety of cocktails (French 77, Negroni, etc.) And it was all excellent and reasonable. Do not miss the house lamb sausage or mushroom brushetta! We absolutely loved the night. A must do while in Chestertown!! And check out the huge whiskey selection- very knowledgeable staff at all points.

   Lovely evening in the cozy Retriever living room. Sampled six kinds of oysters. Great service, attentive owner. What’s not to love!

    Super meal Neyah, thanks. You’ve got a great team. The meat loaf and pork dish were exceptional, as was the shrimp starter.
