Food was great and came really quickly. Four of us and two dogs were put on quite a small table (we booked 3 weeks ahead and responded to all the confirmation emails/texts) and we still weren't on the list! Eventually they found a table and we had been moved from the originally assigned table, not sure why. Staff were quite stressed with only having one till to deal with a very busy bar and the lunchtime diners. Definitely need to book ahead, and double check!

Lovely old pub with very friendly staff. The food was of good quality and served in an acceptable time. The only downside was the fact our table was in a very busy area near the bar so the noise and people walking by did spoil the ambiance a little bit

Took my mother out for Mothers Day, the pub itself is a nice atmosphere and staff are polite. The service seemed disorganised and the food was poor. The four of us each had a roast of which everything on all our plates was cold, even the gravy! We did eat it as we were hungry and had travel an hour to get there, but were reluctant to state it was cold until after due to not wanting it reheated which is not good either. The waitress confirmed our fears it would have simply been reheated when she collected our plates as she said you should have said I would have asked the chef to reheat it!! Potatoes tasted like they had been half boiled, frozen and then stuck in the oven to cook through, while the broccoli (which is an odd choice for a roast) was rock hard and meat although rare was tough as old boots. Very disappointing on this visit, especially on Mother’s Day.

We booked for Sunday lunch. After a long wait (although first in) we had obviously been forgotten.I had very tasty roast beef. Vegetables were wonderful. The beef would be better cut thin as being cut thick it was difficult to cut and my teeth had difficulty chewing it which spoilt the meal. The cauliflower cheese ordered as extra, was almost cold and hardly cooked so we couldn’t cut the stalks plus the cheese sauce was thin watery with cheese grated on the top so I cannot recommend buying as an extra. The meal was not that hot generally upon presentation. Put right I would recommend. The manager was not very welcoming and I felt he didn’t really want to be there.

Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent food and lots of it. Extremely quiet for a Friday night which surprised me. Stayed over in my van and facilities were good, warm and clean. Easy access straight into the moor. Decent breakfast. Will return.
