The Place Restaurant is housed in the 582-room four star deluxe Meliá White House Hotel on a corner of the charming Regent’s Park in central London. Having blown the cobwebs from your hair on a stroll through the gardens, take a seat and relax in this well-proportioned classically decorated room. The Place Restaurant specialises in nutritionally balanced food and a daily-changing buffet. Diners can choose from fresh, zingy salads and a dressings bar so you can design your own; freshly baked bread rolls and ciabattas; hot dishes from all around the globe, including daily roasts; and an exquisite desserts bar. The buffet operates a pay what you eat policy – your cheque is as light, or as heavy, as your plate. There’s also an appealing wine list, as well as tapas, oysters and champagne available in the evenings. If a snack is what you have in mind, there’s a range of healthy options, as well as some decadent pastries and coffee or fresh smoothies and juices.

    Why could I book a table for 2pm while the buffet closes a 2pm ? The staff was totally condescending "Can't you see that we are closed now ? " ... yes ok ... but I had a booking ... "not my problem", totally unacceptable for a 4 stars Hotel ...

    Not a lot to choose from but they taste good. Refill is not that fast, you have to tell the kitchen (for my case, refill the ham)

    The food was fresh and well prepared, with plenty of healthy options. Meat or fish was available at an extra cost, but it was still a reasonable price if you wanted this option. It was a buffet style, but there were plenty of staff on hand to help you and talk through the options. This also enables diners to eat at their own pace. The seating arrangements were a little "cafeteria" style; so not really the place for an intimate or romantic dinner. The restaurant had no record of my booking through open table, but were able to fit us in with no problem.

    Although they didn't know about our reservation on toptable,they were really nice. There were a lot of food from we could chose what we wanted. We have chosen the buffet dinner so we serve ourselfes that's why I think the service charge was high.

    Priced at £25pp, this delightful open restaurant offers a buffet dinner with a nice variety of dishes, designed and cooked to a high quality. The theme changes nightly and on our night we had an English theme and the rack of lamb was definitely the highlight, along with their good selection of desserts.

    The ambience is a bit more like a canteen though if you go for the buffet restaurant option (there is also a more formal restaurant old English style). The buffet is good value for money, but it is not haute cuisine. When we were there it was Spanish night. Service was friendly. Afterwards in the hotel bar there was a live piano player.

    L'aubufera in London was very reasonable with the toptable deal, although service was a bit slow at times. Some of the food tends to come very rare so if you're not sure check before hand.

    Food was lovely, had a selection of the tapas, gambas, croquettes and tortilla. For main we had the lobster paella which was really nice but a lot of hard work as it was a full lobster! not much ambience, maybe because its a hotel restaurant. Excellent value for money on the top table deal.
