   As these are dining reviews .. I can't strictly rate that, and they seem to be very positive in general. My experience was concerning an impromptu visit I made last Wednesday lunchtime, whilst I was wanting to go to the toilets urgently. I went in, and not being able to find them, enquired with a young lady member of staff by the bar. I received, what I considered to be a curt and indifferent response indicating where they were. I found them, and can't fault the high cleanliness and aesthetic touch to them. On venturing out I bumped into same member of staff going through the door, and still wasn't impressed the lack of politeness displayed. So I left feeling that I could have been treated better!

   Christmas Day lunch with my daughters. We were greeted at the door and taken to our table. Nice name cards on the table with our preselected courses just in case you had forgotten!! Lovely food overall we all enjoyed it in particular the desert ! One small thing we were sat upstairs and it felt quite cold unfortunately and also less atmospheric. Would return again for lunch or dinner highly recommended.

   We have eaten here on two previous occasions and looked forward to this. Drinks service was very slow with no explanation for the long wait until I went and asked. People at another table who arrived after us were served before us, not a big deal had the rest of it all been ok. The pre appetiser bread and oils took ages and then were served with the soup so I sent it back. The soup was not hot. The turkey meal felt like leftovers from the day before (Sunday). We were offered, and accepted, a bottle of tap water, but it never materialised. The restaurant was very quiet with only two other tables occupied so there was no excuse for these delays. The chef even found time to come out and sit with other diners to take them through the menu. Waitresses were very friendly and polite but were nervous and felt like beginners, again not a problem had all other aspects been good. I have not posted this on Trip Adviser due to previous good experiences there.

   We took advantage of the £5 lunch menu. We all has fishcakes which were lovely and also had a pudding. Very nice and the staff were very friendly providing very good service.

   Thank you for a lovely meal last Sunday, I had lunch with my partner and friends and we were made to feel very welcome, the food was excellent plenty of variety. Carol (Shrewsbury)

   I'm afraid that our overall experience has to be rated 3 star due to the live music. The pianist was good but far too loud and when we asked to be moved it was no better. It was very difficult to have a conversation, I got quite frustrated and it did spoil the evening. I noted two other tables also asked to be moved. It was a real shame , we are local and had not visited the restaurant before and despite the food being excellent we would think twice before returning.

    Bit fancy for meGreat service, nice roast but wasn't substantial enough, roast jus was weak in flavour, beef was perfect but too small, starters liver pate over fancy and lacked flavours
