Local sources suggest that The New Conservatory is situated where part of the old Stock Exchange once stood (1846). The site was demolished in 1905 and a YMCA was built. Rumours also suggest that an underground bar, with an entrance from Change Alley may once have existed in this exact location.

The Conservatory was an old favourite amongst the youth in the 1980’s. Renovations and new ownership made way for The New Conservatory, the independent bar and restaurant you now know and love. Come in and say hello!

    Booked the restaurant for my graduation meal and felt slightly disappointed. The waitress was lovely and was very friendly. However, a few issues with the service. On arrival I was told they didn’t have my booking as they don’t use Opentable anymore. They accommodated my group but it was disappointing that there was not a table prepared. There was a considerable wait for our round of drinks and a few of our meals were disappointing. In fairness, the team did offer an alternative meal for one of the dishes (chicken and chorizo risotto) that was over cooked and over seasoned and filled with chorizo (despite the guest asking for only a small amount in the dish). The others who ordered burgers were pleased with their food and the garlic bread was particularly nice. Besides that I would suggest the experience did not represent value for money.

    Visited on a Monday afternoon for a spot of lunch and opted for their beef burger. Its came quickly and I must say its one of the most hearty burgers I've tried in a while. The service was excellent.

    There were 3 of us 2 of the meals were good, but unfortunately my Sunday lunch wasn’t the best. The roast beef was processed and the roast potatoes were white not golden, and it was just warm, but the kind waiter reheated it for me. I have been there before and had the lasagne which was really nice, just dissatisfied with the Sunday roast. The place and the staff are lovely .

    Great food, superb service and friendly staff in a relaxing environment. Best place for lunch and good value too. Will definitely return
