The Merchan elabora todos sus platillos desde cero. El chef ejecutivo Matt Foley trabajó anteriormente en el Craigie on Main de Cambridge y el Sycamore de Newton.     The Merchant is very reliable, has a terrific menu with many options, and is very conveniently located right in Downtown Crossing. But best of all is the service: we have favorite servers but all the servers are terrific, the bartender knows what they're doing, and the restaurant, even when very busy, seems efficiently focused on their customers. Our favorite servers - Elizabeth, and Eric - are both superb. They remember us and our preferences from one visit to the next, and treat us like family. This was our friends' first visit, but they enjoyed it a lot and it won't be their last! We have never had a bad meal here - always very delicious and satisfying. For an any-time go-to place, add The Merchant to your list.

    Great atmosphere and enjoyed the dim lighting in the restaurant. The server was great and friendly. She provided helpful recommendations for dinner and dessert. Enjoyed the evening with friends!

    It's our second time here, and brought new friends. A Monday night so relatively quiet, but perfect for conversation and catching up. Cocktails, appetizers and meals were all just right. A nice place to get together for casual meets!

    Great bar area, very crowded on a Friday night. Reservations for a table are a must for happy hour. $1 oysters were incredible. Only issue were chunks of mold in our draft beers…tap needed to be cleaned out. We told the waitress and she apologized and immediately replaced the beers with a different type of beer. (She stopped serving the beer from that tap.)
