Booked a table at the Lord Nelson while staying at a hotel in Exeter. When I arrived, the place is very small, basically one room, and there was only one other customer, sitting at the bar. When a member of staff eventually appeared, I asked for a menu, only to be told no food available, no chef. Not the most welcoming venue I've been to

No food was being served at lunchtime on Sunday. A gin and cider festival was planned for the afternoon. Staff very apologetic that an online booking had been taken for Sunday lunch when no food available.

Booked table for 2 then discovered when we arrived for 8pm that a band booked so kitchen closes earlier BUT staff has anticipated this and stayed open for us. Delicious nachos, followed by jogging to the band. Obviously noisy but expected. Great spontaneous night
