   Roast Beef was very overdone so difficult to eat . Prawn cocktail consisted of tiny chewy prawns and watery sauce and a slice of white sliced stale bread Toast that accompanied the Chicken Liver Parfait was just awful white sliced bread and not toasted ! Cauliflower cheese was bought out with our starters . The rest of our roast was not too bad - tasty vegetables and gravy .

   Unfortunately the entire experience was very disappointing. Our order was taken promptly but unfortunately we waited over an hr for the starter..apparently the kitchen appliances were faulty! A further hr on I was told my main was no longer available and I had to rechoose. We arrived at 7.30 and still had no main by 10.20. Is was a choice scene with tables waiting for food. My skate wing arrived but was inedible. Laden with spice paprika and smelt so strong of vinegar. Even my potatoes were under cooked and no leek as they'd run out. My partner's liver was over cooked and it tasted like bisto gravy, despite it being the signature dish. The only saving grace was the pub scrapped the food bill and we only paid for our drinks. Front of house was thoroughly stressed and embarrassed. No sign of chef! Won't be returning.

   Average at best, calamari was overcooked . The main course (sole) came with chips and salad instead of potatoes and salad as stated on menu. No explanation for why , my theory is the earlier bbq event influenced the kitchen and its capabilities. Shame as we’ve been here before and it was much better, this time was not the case.

   Slightly disappointed with our lunch today. We took our parents for a birthday meal - my dads bowl was cold (with a hot meal) The chips weren’t cooked so we returned them and asked for more and there was barely any egg in the egg mayonnaise sandwich. Such a shame for a celebration meal for my Mum 😔

   Freddie and his team have triumphed again! Food was great, service brilliant and everything else was just as good as it gets.

   Went for Sunday lunch, absolutely delicious, good portions size and price for quality of food especially the meat.

    First time of visiting here for many years. Pleasantly surprised. Very good welcome friendly atmosphere. Service great and very accommodating to our needs. Food excellent and plenty of it. Nice space of time between courses leaving time to chat and take in atmosphere
