We first visited in March 2023 not long after the restaurant had opened and our dining experience was perfectly fine, so we were looking forward to returning on our next trip to Brighton. Unfortunately not to be. It started at check-in. On confirming our name we were left to stand there, not knowing whether to walk in or wait. Receptionist finally asked to take coats and then escorted us to our table. The seating arrangements had totally ruined the ambiance as tables had been lined up in a row with barely any space in between, so couples are made to feel self-conscious and the restaurant has no vibe. Staff pick up on this. They seem glum and displeased to be working. Which brings me in to the food. Wontons were in fact a tiny basket of flavourless crackers. The dipping sauce to our dismay was not room temperature but cold and straight out of a refrigerator. We complained and had the £6 immediately removed from the bill. The rest of the food that followed was underwhelming. Everything was cold. The black cod fish not worth £36, kimchi rice gluggy and prawn curry you had to fish around for a prawn. We didn’t bother complaining as we would have been there for ages, plus we were in a quiet restaurant with everyone listening and it would have killed any ounce of liveliness. I feel this restaurant is coasting on its name. We won’t be returning.

We booked for a friends birthday so it was a special place for a special occasion. The place is beautiful as you would expect and the staff are all lovely and friendly, very polite and attentive. So far so good. We ordered starters and drinks;all good and then they started clearing the table and gave us our dessert menu! We reminded them than we hadn’t actually ordered mains yet and they seemed confused. We had at least 5 different people attending yo us and seemed the communication was a bit off, but didn’t think anything of it and ordered mains. Everything arrived as expected, then again cleared up and told us they now need the table back!! This was the point at which it went wrong: They never indicated at the beginning that we have only ONE HOUR and FORTY FIVE MINS to inhale over £200 worth of food! They said we were told on the confirmation when you book! No one reads those and aside from that it’s not my job to manage the order, the flow of food and the rate at which we eat our very expensive food! It explains the half portions of food, so you don’t sit there for ages trying to finish the it all. When I explained we haven’t even ordered our dessert the poor waiter simply said ‘erm I’m sorry but this table is booked and we need it back!!’ I had specifically put on the booking form (which they clearly do not read either) that we were there for my friend’s birthday. To appease me the manager came to talk to me, apologise and tell me that they might be able to give me 20 mins more, but that’s it! She said they can bring a mochi over with a candle for my friend. Then she spent 10 mins talking to me but didn’t try and find a suitable alternative. Essentially, they messed up and left us feeling quite disappointed £216 later, no money off the bill (but that wasn’t what we asked for or the point) no dessert, no resolution, just an apology and a pat on the back. Upstairs had space, and there were other tables!! Not what we expected from the Ivy!!

As always we love dining here, we had a great table, food was excellent but sadly they were very busy & seemed very under staffed so service wasn’t up to standard. They did the decent thing & took ££ off our bill which we appreciated. We Will be going back

Painfully slow service resulted in a disappointing experience for us (2 hours for 1 course!) . Arrived on time for our booking but waited nearly 20 minutes to be seated at a table that was already free when we arrived. Waited 40 minutes to get our drinks and we'd been there an hour before our food order was taken. The waiter was pleasant enough but wasn't attentive, never checked our drinks etc. We skipped dessert as we could see it would have taken another hour or so. Overall, the food and service was pretty basic given the price. Not something I would have expected from The Ivy. Won't return.

This was the first time at Asia Ivy, had heard many good things but sadly fell well short! We were given a lovely afternoon experience by a close friend. We arrived 30mins early and waited about 4/5mins at the entrance before anyone came to us. Explained we were early and would like to go to the bar. We were amazed at the place, truly a different experience and the bar tenders flamboyance at the cocktails was great. Thereafter it went down hill. If you add up the cost for 2 of us it was in excess of £260. That did include 2 additional trays and a bottle of Sancerre but for afternoon tea still a little steep. This is where it fell down. Food was good not amazing, but service was really poor. Our wine was placed where we couldn’t reach despite the promise they would serve it (they served the people on the other table every glass ), we never had any help until the very last drop which was done by I believe the senior manager. The service was in-partial, at no time did we feel like a customer more “oh another set of people to serve”. This was our 44th anniversary so didn’t help that we’ve had more passion and personal service from McDonalds than here. Very sad to say we were greatly disappointed and would not come here again based on the level of service and in some ways the over priced food! Appreciate this seems harsh but I’m a genuine person that gives true and honest views. They seriously need a senior person looking into why half the staff looked and responded in a dispassionate way, not just to us but others. Adding further insult they added £30 in service charges. Of course I got this removed…it’s even a cheek to add it automatically!

3rd time at ivy asia . Gradually got worse . But this time was particularly bad. 30mins late to table and no place at the bar. Didn’t remember my pre order of £48 per person and served us £60 person . Didn’t remember it was my daughter’s birthday . Had to keep asking for some of our wine but didn’t seem to be any staff. Asked for our final coarse as it seemed to shutting shop … so so disappointing. Zero customer service Didn’t add that a complimentary drink on table delay didn’t happen so we asked for it twice . Bizarre for a £500 final bill to be of such poor service so unfortunately will not return for a 4th time
