   Our food was delicious and our waiter was awesome. The ambiance itself will win you over. We plan to go back.

   Unnervingly loud atmosphere. Poor service. We came with out of town friends. We couldn't hear ourselves think, never mind talk. Service was very slow for initial drinks. After waiting too long for a server to take orders, we paid for our drinks and left with great relief.

   The location had two things going against it... there was a large party which had taken over the main bar, as opposed to the open spaces in the back, and there was almost no service unless you were part of of this group. I waited over 10 minutes for the hostess (also the server!) to meet me and show me to our table. The hostess was overworked and surly, not her fault, as she was the only one who was supporting everyone who was not at the bar. The Gryphon actually called me earlier in the day to ask if we (who had made reservations through OpenTable) would prefer to be seated at the bar... the same bar which was taken over by a private party. Not sure how that would work out for anyone! This place does not belong on OpenTable as it is NOT a restaurant, and should not be advertized as such.

   This is primarily a bar, with only a few tables for dining. The noise from the bar was overwhelming at 6 - 7 pm. The table service was good and the food was fine, but I would not choose to eat there again.

   Since the Gryphon revamped its happy hour food menu, the whole vibe has changed for me. The raw bar is gone, the best Social Bites are gone and the remaining ones are no longer discounted, the extensive selection of steaks is no more...Still a beautiful setting, but there's nothing on the menu that sets it apart from any other bar/lounge. I miss the old Gryphon.

   We were disappointed that they just changed their menu tonight. We liked the old menu. They have also changed the seating & it was not as comfortable. Their Cajun Ribeye was the best steak in DC. We will be looking for a new place.

   The atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant was great. The service was really good but I fell in love with the zucchini chips.

   Definitely get the fried caesar Brussels sprouts and alligator bites! Our server Aly was super engaging and gave us some great ideas of other places to try during my vacation.

    The ambiance was nice. The social bites are great. They could use more selection for people who do not eat beef entrees. Our waitress was rather snappy. I guess attitude is trendy. She also had a foreign accent, so maybe it was a cultural norm in whatever part of Europe she reigns from, we didn't ask. We had 7pm reservation so the bar scene was just beginning to pick up by the time we left. I can tell its a happening spot after 10
