   We were disappointed with our experience last night. The starter was fine, the main course was barely warm and not quite as described on the menu. Vegetables flavourless and bland. Very disappointing as it was part of my 50th birthday celebrations. Tables not cleared very often in the lounge and bar areas. Glasses cloudy from the dishwasher and not buffed. Overall very underwhelming and lacking in the finer details

   We were looking forward to this treat away and booked the grill as a treat, my husband had the Scottish beef burger, I had the vegan burger, both arrived on cold plates with just warm pale French fries that quickly went cold. There was little evidence of home made relish and very little taste in either. We paid £20 for the Scottish burger and £19 for the vegan burger which we now believe should have been £17, in total £39 for 2 burgers and chips. We have eaten this type of meal at other restaurants and even fast takeway establishments and they were all much superior. We hoped breakfast may improve our experience but although the buffet table did have some choices the English breakfast and vegetarian breakfast were disappointing. Poached eggs hard, some sort of potato scone, flat, greasy and inedible, plus the English breakfast sausage smelt as if going slightly off and the black pudding more of a mush. Spending in total £87 for very poor standard of food.

   As we weren't in the grill but in the spa cafe this was disappointing. Didn't like the ambience, being surrounded by people going backwards and forwards in their robes. The sandwiches had poor amounts of filling and the bread was quite dry as it was obvious they had been refrigerated rather than freshly made.. The scones were more like cake and the cake that looked as if it might have been a bakewell was dry. Overall it was poor and I wouldn't recommend. The staff that were on were friendly and helpful but there was only two on so service wasn't as quick as it might have been - not their fault.

   Pretty poor. Average food but at high end London prices, massively overpriced drinks (£32 for 2 gin and tonics), tatty restaurant with sticky tables and seated in a long narrow conservatory with all the atmosphere of a hospital corridor. I won't be going back.

    Poor service- not enough staff. Mediocre food could be found in any local pub, twice the price of the locals! What a let down from the very fine restaurant it once was. Will not be going back.
