Shockingly bad. We have had formal tea at many high end hotels. What we were served for a similar luxury price point was a tiny amount of tea sandwiches which were only 3 pieces (each) of one tiny piece of bread with a topping spread. True finger tea sandwiches are multi layer. I have photos of other luxury hotels who did this correctly for same price point to compare. This was a complete rip off. Further they tried to pass off “Beet Tartare” as Beef Tartare as an upsell. It was truly disgusting, looked like canned chopped beets with big red onions in a wilted lettuce cup. We asked our server who said the menu used was for sure a deceiving font to look like beef vs beet. She said she was a software contractor and the BP outsources waitstaff. So these people working the tea are day contractors who don’t know the left hand from right. Further they kept running a vacuum next to us loudly during the music. This place feels frumpy, completely overpriced and is cutting corners at all costs which destroys the guest experience. It is very clearly a franchised low star Marriott trying to live on the good name of the BP. We were irritated about the menu misrepresentation, poor food quality and quantity, and service. The Harpist was good but a bit tone deaf as she was playing songs like Rolling Stones paint it black…. on Easter Sunday. They should drop the price in half then it wouldn’t be so laughable. The lemon curd and buttermilk scones were the star of the day. The tea was good but they don’t serve properly with lemon wedges, honey, cream etc. no cloth place settings. And the tea is loose leaf but they don’t have proper equipment to keep the loose leaves out of your teacup, we used what eas provided but the holes were too big so what was the point? Do not waste your time and money.

We attended the Easter afternoon tea in the Grand Atrium and had a wonderful time. The service was excellent and the food fun and tasty. We've done this as a family several times over the last 10 years and always enjoy the history and ambiance. John Kite, the Brown Palace music director and pianist, has graciously interacted with and encouraged our daughter, an aspiring vocalist, every time. Sweet memories in a wonderful setting. Thanks . . .

My mom celebrated her 101st birthday having tea at the Brown Palace. It was fabulous. The teas were tasty, the food was delicious, and the ambiance could not have been better. We loved listening to the piano which added an elegant touch to the whole affair. We totally loved the whole experience!

As someone who has loved afternoon tea at the Brown Palace for over two decades, I was really disappointed on my most recent visit. I took my exchange student for what was meant to be a special 18th birthday celebration, but we were met with a tired atmosphere and significant cleanliness issues. There was no valet available when we arrived. Inside, the decor felt dated, and worst of all, the restroom was filthy—no toilet paper, backed-up toilet, and an unpleasant odor. It was unacceptable, especially for a hotel with such a storied history. The tea itself was just okay. The menu hasn’t changed in years, and while the presentation was fine, it lacked the creativity and freshness that once made it a treat. In a more positive note, our server and the piano player were both kind and professional. I truly hope the Brown Palace invests in restoring the level of care and elegance it was once known for. Until then, I can’t recommend it.
