   The minute we arrived we felt valued as guests. Staff certainly know how to make a meal special with friendly and efficient service. Food is very good and presentation first class. The restaurant is comfortable without leaving the guest uncomfortable by feeling you have to be on your best behaviour as in some top restaurants with snobby staff. It was all so perfect. Well done to the staff.

   The Golden Fleece never disappoints, with great food (and wine and real ale) and service every time.

   Overpriced food, tiny portions, uncooked chips. Unacceptable wait to be shown to table.

   After a day walking Hadrians Wall we were recommended the Golden Fleece. We stayed at Orchard House and the proprietor took us there and dropped us off after our meal too. Food brilliant and the staff were so smart in their tweed waistcoats. Lovely quiet meal and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Would certainly return in the future.

   I moved up to Carlilse 6 months and have visited some great places to eat, however the Golden Fleece will take some beating. They focus on Quality not Quanity and have never failed to deliver other than perfection for both food and service.

   Our visit to the Golden Fleece was outstanding in every way the food the service and the value for money. The steak i had was the best this year along with the peppercorn and brandy sauce. My wife had the sea bass which also very good . Make sure you book before going to the restaurant as it is always busy as word gets around how good this place is .

   This is a good place to eat, we have been here several times. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The food is good however sometimes it is a bit of a mixed bag. For example the canapés are the same every time chipolata sausages done in honey and mustard and they are not that great, easily done at home, humus which is really lovely with crispy bread and crisps, I really enjoyed them the first time and the second but by the time it is several visits later its pretty boring. My monkfish was overcooked this time which was disappointing however the butter bean and chorizo cassoulet was a delight. Maybe because the food is sometimes stunning that when its not so great it is really noticeable.

   A Birthday meal which was excellent from the minute we arrived, friendly welcome, helpful staff, efficient service, not rushed between courses and attention to detail was first class. Thank you for one of our best evening meals

   I've been going to the Golden Fleece for about a year now, and not once have I ever had any reason not to be overjoyed. The setting is stylish yet homely and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. There is a varied selection of beers, wines and spirits; far more than you would often find in the country pub restaurant. The food... oh the food! The starters are well portioned and beautifully decorative, the mains (particularly the Steaks) are varied and delicious with good helping of vegetables and potatoes/chips. If after all that you can mange a dessert, they are always popular choices and devilishly sweet. All in all 10/10

    Great service, great food. Been many times & will continue going back for more. Really love this place and will always recommend to anyone considering. Proposed to my wife to be on this occasion & got great support from the team. 💍❤️🍾🍴
