There were certainly culinary highlights, including the cocktails (Aviation, Rob Roy), a nicely seasoned, charred hanger steak, and a unique oatmeal crisp for dessert. But the calamari appetizer and lamb chops special were unremarkable in their flavor, presentation. In all, I get the value proposition of serving locally grown food. Great. But at these prices, I expect more consistent artistic interpretation of culinary offerings. BTW, how can a restaurant run out of scallops and rib eye? I would have ordered the former. Also, the valet (contracted to a third party) was awful; after 10 pm one has to walk a city block to find the valet attendant - not convenient, especially with 6" of snow at 5 degrees F. :(

I'm an out-of-towner, and was pleasantly surprised to find such a great food scene in Cleveland. But Flying Fig surpassed even my raised expectations. For starters, their cocktail list was well-curated and expertly poured. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the cocktails, wine list, and the provenance of the food. And the food was terrific; we were so happy with the small plates that we never even made it to the entrees - we just kept ordering more small plates for sharing. (All of them were good, but best bets are bacon-wrapped dates and carpaccio.) One more thing: leaving room for dessert was a good idea.

When you take your grandchild out on a "Date Night" and you have a great meal with good service despite the low bar tab, must be a recommendable site. Got to the theater on time, besides. Recommend the bacon wrapped date appetizer with pepper-infused tomato base

Had a reservation for 2 pm on a Saturday, and had missed the fact that it was only the brunch menu to select from, so we were a bit disappointed since we were there for their ordinary menu. However the food was very well made and flavourfull so we did leave content and happy after all. The taleggio polenta side was excellent, and the mixed winter salad was top notch. Our entrees (pork belly tostada and beef brisket hash) were good as well, quite spicy! All in all a good neighborhood place, but nothing exceptional.

We went out for a farewell dinner and had a spectacular time. The ambiance was cozy, despite a cold winter night and the food was fantastic. Definitely one of the best in Cleveland!

I haven't been to the flying fig in a very long time so I thought I would take a very good friend for a Christmas treat! We were not disappointed. Just reading the menu was pleasurable. Their ability to combine flavors is spectacular! From our appetizers to our entrees, spot-on with robust flavors with no need to add additional salt or pepper! The duck was simply amazing and the walleye superb. The cocktails were also made to perfection and the wine list was perfect - reasonably priced and many available by the glass! Portion size is perfect; you won't go away hungry!!! Although very full, I had to try the homemade fig ice cream.......YUMMY!!!! I will return to the Flying Fig again and again - even to just sit at the bar with a cocktail....or a glass of wine and their flatbread...or a full yummy yum yum dinner! You won't be disappointed!!!

My husband wrote this restaurant off his list 10+ years ago but when I asked him why when I wanted to go back he couldn't remember why. Needless to say, it won him over and he's been telling everybody about our meal since we left. And has also told me what he's going to order when we come back. We had the duck, gnocchi, carpaccio and bruschetta of the day. Plenty of food. All paired well. It was noisier than I remember but that'd be my only complaint. Our server also didn't realize we were his but his food knowledge and sincerity made up for the extended wait to take our order. We had our wine from the bar with us so all was well. I'm Not a meal rusher so truly didn't bother us one bit.

Don't know why we had such slow service. Seemed like there were plenty of wait staff, reservations had been made for our table of 7. The food made up for the wait, but still would have liked an explanation for the long wait time between receiving menu's, ordering a beverage, getting the beverage, etc.
