   Really disappointed considering I used to work at The Stannneylands a number of years ago as a student. I booked online in advance and telephoned a few days before my visit (on Sunday 24th September 2016) to check if my booking was still in place. We (a party) of 5 arrived on the 24th September 2016 to find out that we weren't on the list! I then had to wait for over 10 minutes to get served a drink and then we had to wait for over 25 minutes before being seated! When I worked at the Stanneylands, Mr Beech (the owner) would not have his customers waiting for this long. The starters were poor (one small piece of goats cheese) and the gammon that I had was average. There were no roast potatoes and too much vegetables in a large bowl. Overall, I was really looking forward to my visit and I was really disappointed. The standard has diminished considerably and I don't think that I will be visiting this restaurant for a number of years! David Preston

   It was unfortunate that I was the only diner so there was no ambience although I gather there were birthday parties in other parts of the hotel. The hotel is "traditional" in a rather boring way with dreadful piped nothing type music until later when a a man played some live music which was pleasant. I used the place for dinner before staying nearby for an early morning flight from the airport otherwise I would not be in the area.

   We have been to the Hotel quite a few times over the years for family gatherings and weddings. The hotel has changed hands since we were last there but apart from the absence of the wonderful manager Aemon who used to meet and greet and added a very personal touch, we were very pleased that little else has changed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. We will definitely be returning.

   A lovely relaxed atmosphere for Sunday lunch with friends. Excellent food and attentive polite and welcoming staff!

   Took my mum who is in her eighties her for Sunday Lunch. We knew that the hotel had recently changed hands and were a little surprised to find that the dining room was exactly the same as the last time we visited (about 15 years ago!) The staff were friendly but the service was a little hit and miss.... nothing to complain about but a bit slow and forgetful.... The food not brilliant but perfectly acceptable - better than most pub Sunday lunches certainly, and very reasonably priced indeed. The main thing is that my mum really enjoyed herself and she said she would go again. I do think this restauarant suits the older customer in its ambience and decor which is a shame as the pricing and quality should be attracting young people..... it wasn't busy at all when we were there. One point - there is no signpost to the disabled car parking /entrance as you drive into the hotel. This meant my mum who is very doddery had real trouble getting up the step outside the main entrance and had to walk a lot further to the dining room than was necessary. I think the hotel should address this.
