   We have had good experiences at the Crooked Billet, albeit many years ago. This time it was depressingly awful, Service was slow and erratic and the food, especially the burnt sausages, Chicken, Leek and Potato pie with three pieces of bland chicken and much congealed cornflour was terrible. The crispy chicken starter had nice chicken, but dry and skellered lettuce leaves, and £8 for two small chicken goujon sized pieces of meat was excessive. To be fair one or two of the other dishes were at least edible, but everything was seriously over-priced. As this was for a friend's 86th birthday we didn't make a fuss by complaining overly and to be honest I'm not sure it would have been worth the effort, but the waitress, whose service itself was slow and cursory, was clearly embarrassed and a little war-weary when we pointed out the poor quality of the food. Will be many years again before we might consider going back.

   Haven't been before, but we are quite local so we gave it a go. A Good choice. Excellent food in nice quiet village pub.

   We went on a very busy Friday night. Staff were friendly. We were told two chefs had left that day and ‘management’ were cooking. Despite this set back the food was excellent and the portions were a very good size.

   On the whole we enjoyed our meal it was good. However, the wine was over-priced. We requested a second medium glass, were served with a large and charged 9.00. The cheese board was small without the usual addition of grapes or an apple and italian bread sticks are not appropriate. The sweet was very good but we were only provided with a spoon, no fork, which meant it had to be chased round the plate. The cassoulet was not, a duck leg and 2 little sausages in some kind of chopped tomato sauce, disappointing. The beer was very drinkable and the service efficient. Although the meal was ok, at 180.00 for four it was not good value for money. We would recommend it to friends but with warnings. We do not think we would return.

   Very friendly staff . Table by a window with views of the garden. All of our party ordered seafood which was excellent. Only negative was no-one to greet diners. Had to queue at the bar to announce our arrival. Previous owners had a 'wait to be seated' sign which I prefer.
