Welcome to The Cridford Inn...Possibly the Oldest...Certainly the most Charming!
Dating back to 825AD The Cridford Inn is a charming 1,000 year old Devon longhouse that has kept its character. This delightful free-house is family run by Paul & Ness with Sean heading up the kitchen. Our food is the best locally sourced ingredients we can find lovingly prepared in our kitchen by a team of passionate, talented chefs. Our well kept local Ales, interesting wines and extensive range of spirits (especially our 80 different Gins) make relaxing in our dog friendly bar with log burning fires a pleasure. Our stunning dining room makes you feel like you have stepped back in time (or entered the set of Game of Thrones) We can host parties and special events, speak to Ness or Paul for more information.

A great, atmospheric pub with a decent rural style. Nice good food great service. Would go back for sure! They were very accommodating to changing the party size at the last minute.

The meals we chose proved very good indeed. The dishes were well cooked and well presented. This was much better than standard pub food. It did not matter that there was not a wide range of choices when there is a successful policy of doing well what is done. It was a very enjoyable visit and we plan to visit again [government regulations allowing !].

Food lunchtime - small set menu had items missing, poorly presented when arrived and not good value. Cottage pie arrived in small oval dish on large empty plate with no garnish or veg. Peas/tomato don’t cost much and would’ve looked more appealing. Cosy bar had log burner but it was unlit and the room was chilly on a cold, miserable winter’s day. Difficult to find too - narrow, long, windy lanes to village - and the sign on ‘main’ road had the name CRIDFORD in small lettering which we missed.

We eat Sunday lunch here last Nov for a family celebration - it was brilliant all round, great menu choice, super service and a great atmosphere, good value. It is not local for us circa one hour but we returned for Sunday lunch with family again on Sunday 23rd Feb. Very different standard, very limited menu as an example there were sharing platters as starters last time, only one desert available, very inattentive service and portions inadequate so a totally different experience much to our surprise.

We have now been three times since the first week in January after a long absence! The food is very good, I had roast beef for Sunday lunch and it just melted in the mouth and the vegetables were crunchy, perfect! The guy running it now is such a good host , always smiling ,friendly and very happy to light the fire if it is not already lit. It is a very welcoming place and we thoroughly recommend it.

I met two friends here who had travelled from Wales. I recommended this pub on the basis that it had a log fire. It was raining as usual and cold. We were all cold and it sadly spoiled the experience. The food was good. The service wasn't great - I had to ask for condiments twice.
