The worst dinner and experience we have ever had…
My husband and I dined last Thursday evening at the Consulate. The entire meal was a disaster. Beginning with our drink order, which was two martinis. The server (who was lovely by the way) brings over two yellow colored drinks. We asked her to wait while we tasted them because we knew they were not martinis… And of course they were very sweet. And clearly were Lemon Drop cocktails. Clearly not what we ordered.
We politely declined and asked for what we ordered. We asked her to take the drinks back. She went back to the bartender, she later came back with no drinks… And said she was told by the bartender who said that our order was accurate and that we had to pay for the two drinks. We were flabbergasted. By the way, he is the same bartender whose picture is on the menu. ($40 in drinks wasted.)
We told our server that we had never had this experience before, but certainly didn’t want to ask for new cocktails that likely would also be wrong. And clearly we were already paying for the first batch that were wrong. She said she would understood and go back to the owner.
The server came back again and said that the owner said we could order new drinks but that we would still have to pay for the old drinks and pay for the new drinks. Again, not a solution. We politely declined.
My husband also ordered the fried rice, without squid, it came with only squid and no shrimp, scallops or mussels. I ordered the Mongolian beef. Bland and flavorless. To say that we won’t be back is an understatement. This was by far the worst restaurant experience we have ever had, not just in Atlanta, but anywhere globally.
It’s also important to note that at no point did the owner come up to us and apologize. Instead it was the server who was left alone to help us. What a poor owner, who doesn’t care about the employees or the guests.
The ConsulateRespuesta enviada hace 1 díaDear Mrs. Mike, I was unfortunately not in the building during your visit. Saying that I do not care about our guests or staff is grossly incorrect. I'm here nightly, unlike most restaurateurs because the opposite is the case. I was notified when I arrived, of your dissatisfaction with our return policy. The cocktails you received were not Lemondrops, but were Gin Martinis. Our Beverage Director confirmed the spirits used & offered to add more Gin to lessen the Vermouth. A simple adjustment was all that was needed. You declined. Before tossing, he strawed the drink to triple check. It was correct. Sadly, not being happy with our policy, you now state your dish was incorrect, bland and service was lackluster. Your tantrum the staff witnessed, was surprising. So sorry you didn't enjoy.
