   I made a reservation at the The Capital: American Eatery & Lounge a week in advance. Upon turning up at the restaurant at the appropriate time, we were rather surprised when the restaurant was closed for the night. The restaurant shouldn't take reservations through OpenTable if they are going to treat customers in such a sub-standard manner, and OpenTable shouldn't let the restaurant use their platform. The restaurant clearly doesn't value its customers, or those who make reservations in advance. A simple phone call advising that the reservation couldn't be accommodated would have been sufficient. An entirely unacceptable experience with the The Capital: American Eatery & Lounge.

   Pork chop itself was excellent.. fried chicken was good but we did not like the sauces on the pork chop of fried chicken..overwhelmed the dish. But great service and ambience will try again order something different next time.

   We participated in restaurant week, so the meal was a great value at $20.17/per. We also had the option of ordering off the regular menu. Our waiter (Ben) was great. There was some confusion about inclusion of jalapeño peppers in the main dish (he indicated there were some; one diner ordered her dish without. Another waitress indicated there were no peppers in the dish. There were.). We were given the option of a third dessert that wasn't included in the restaurant week options. Ambience was nice. Valet parking a plus.

   Went before a concert at the Times Union....lucky we made a reservation as every place was packed. Menu is kinda limited. Calamari was tasty but served lukewarm. Bread was "home baked" but mediocre at best. No cocktail menu but lots of beer. Fish tacos were bland. Baked brie was ridiculously small with a quarter of a sliced apple and some berries...toasted bruschetta would have been good. Server was pleasant but really spacey.

   Took almost two hours for two courses AND gratuity was included at 21% for two people? Was on the bill in very fine print and pretty shady if you ask me.

   This was our first visit. We were in the area for a show. We had a reservation for 5:45 and still had to rush to the show at 7:30. We waited a long time for our meals to come out. We would not recommend this restaurant.

    A friend and I went before going to see John Mayer at the TUC and I was pleasantly surprised to hear John Mayer playing in the restaurant. The food was excellent and my drink was delicious. The abianance was very chill and the decor very modern. The only bad thing I have to say is the water was gross and the bathroom needs updating. I'm pretty sure it's the same bathroom from when it was jillians. Overall will definitely come back.
