The Bear & Ragged Staff in Cumnor is a world away from the Newbury & Swindon roads that stream past only a mile from its door. The heart of the pub is a glorious Tudor beauty. Ancient fireplaces, flagstone floors, and mullioned windows with carved lintels make the bar one of the finest anywhere. A comfortable eatery, conservatory, and South-facing terrace provide spaces for every mood – and winding stairs lead to cosy bedrooms with old oak doorways and beamed ceilings.

    we had a very nice Sunday roast and the service was excellent along with nice appetisers a good meal and pleasant atmosphere

    Visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning, plenty of availability for a last minute booking. Food was exceptional and the service was great. We will definitely visit again.

    I have been having Sunday roasts here for years and today was awful. I had roast pork and couldn’t eat the meat as it was this slices of fat with no actual meat.
