We have eaten at the Avery often. The food is very good. So is the service. It can be very noisy like it was when we there on a Saturday night. But my low ratings arise from our disagreement with the management over their wine policy. I was told that I was not allowed to pour 2 bottles I had already opened and brought from home so I could decant it. Even if I paid the corkage fee. I have done this same thing for years and years at any restaurant we've gone to without a problem. This included 4 nites before at the AVERY. If you don't drink wine then you'll enjoy the Avery. If you do, and prefer to bring your own wine and pay a corkage fee, be forewarned.

This is the note I just sent to the Avery! Thank you! We likewise want to extend our most sincere appreciation to the Staff that waited on us. They are shinning examples of the best in friendly, informed, efficient and effective Wait Staff. And of course, the food as always, was the best in presentation, quality, creativeness, temperature and deliciousness! Our compliments to Cal Elliot for having created such an outstanding venue. Warmest regards….. Patrick J. Edwards

Decent food but not significantly impressive as anticipated with a Michelin star chef. The NY steaks were good for the price but overall both dishes were somewhat salty. I had the NY steak with crispy artichokes and my husband ordered the Beef Duo. There wasn’t anything actually crispy on the artichoke dish as it sat in vinaigrette and bean puree to soften. The braised short ribs were the highlight of the Beef Duo dish. My husband had the Rattlesnake cocktail which was delicious and I ordered an extra dirty martini which the server misunderstood and brought an extra dry martini. Since it was my birthday, I ordered the toffee pudding to share. The pudding cake was served cold, and consistency seemed dry even with the dollop of ice cream that was placed on the top. Again, food was decent but not overwhelmingly impressive; especially for the Easter Sunday when you would think there would be a little more effort to impress. The atmosphere inside was nice and staff seemed friendly but with so many other establishments nearby, it is not a location I would be returning to immediately. My husband said he enjoyed his meal and would order the Duo again. But he indicated both the artichoke appetizer and dessert were not preferred.

Our first experience at the Avery. It was excellent, we were there for Easter Brunch. Outstanding service and the food was excellent---french influenced and nicely prepared with unique selections like Baked eggs, as well as traditional offerings, prepared wonderfully.

Food and service excellent. But as always noisy. I think if the music were turned down people would not have to yell at each other. Sadly to loud to treat our parents there.

This was one of the best meals of my life. My friend was also extremely pleased with her food. The quality and portions were amazing. Staff was friendly and attentive but didn’t hover which I love. I’ll be dreaming of this place until I go back again!
