About this restaurant

  • Hot spot
  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals
Imagined as a neighborhood restaurant with fellow sushi chef Joon Kim (previously Juno and Mako), Tamu (たむ meaning ‘multiple dreams’) is a Japanese restaurant that contains two concepts: a 10-seat sushi bar offering classic and signature temaki (hand rolls), alongside a central 10-seat table service area offering a ‘roll-it-yourself’ temaki selection, small plates and kaisendon (Japanese bowls consisting of rice and fish).

The second concept is an 8-seat nigiri focused omakase that is served in the semi-private back room and was created to be a less-formal, shorter format experience.

This was a very disappointing omakase experience. Having just returned from Japan, I had high hopes for this special, expensive evening. Unfortunately, we left very unimpressed. The server handling the drinks and the bill was not well-trained. He picked-up our drinks without asking if we were finished and never gave us a chance to order more. The entire set-up was made to RUSH you through this experience—which is supposed to be special and enjoyable in a different way than most meals. They started serving BEFORE the reservation time (we were 7 minutes early) and the other couple seated with us was on their second item before we began. They completed everything in well under an hour—hardly what we expected. The food was good, but we left disappointed and hungry. Tamu, you really need to do better—particularly when your omakase area had many empty seats and your restaurant was not crowded. I will be looking elsewhere for my next omakase.

Great meal at Tamu. We had the Omekase and it was excellent. We were late with traffic and parking but they were very accommodating. The food was great and right up there with the more established Omekase restaurants. Simple preparations of great fish in a nice back room

I had dinner here on July 10th, 2024 at the omakase experience. This was a prepaid dinner not knowing what kind of quality we would receive. The fish quality was AWFUL except for a couple pieces, none of the pieces were dressed properly, and most of the pieces had a bad "fishy" taste. Please do yourself a favor a go somewhere good like sushi by bou or sushi suite. I had a conversation with the manager, David, after our bad experience and he was unwilling to assist us..Don't waste $276 on this place.

Overall it was a good experience. I recognize that it’s early into them being open but we had to wait half an hour after the start of our reservation because other diners showed up late to the previous omakase turn. It would have been nice if they’d comped a drink, just out of consideration. The quality of the fish was great, and the value is absolutely there.

Very pleasantly surprised by this omakase menu. Very talented chefs and excrement quality of fish. Really enjoyed!

sushi rice was too dry, fish are not very fresh. Cocktails taste just so so and the ice were too large that you find no way to drink. Chefs are talking and didn’t wear any covers. BTW, there was a large fly flying around in the Omakase room.
