Sushi Teru is specialized in Omakase and practices the traditional style of sushi known as Edomae, which is named after Edo, today known as Tokyo. The Edomae sushi style involves using the aging process to preserve the fish, develop umami flavors and create a more tender texture. A variety of methods are employeed including marinating in soy sauce, shimmering in broth, and curing in salt or kombu sea kelp-from a few hours to several days.
Today, when the fish arrives from Japan, Chef Kou examines it and decides the best Edomae techniques to use.

My wife and I agree that this was a superb experience. There were two fixed price meal offerings consisting of small plate Omakase sushi offerings and other broth and savory creations. The flavors are unique, the service is lovely, and the ambiance reflects a deep respect for the cuisine. There are timed seatings so that the progression of small dishes serves all diners in each sitting. It was leisurely, calm, and uniquely delicious. Don’t mistake it for your corner sushi joint; it is pricey, but a lovely meal.

Chef Teru takes pride in his food. You hear the back story, each plate is thoughtfully put together, and it’s tastes SO GOOD. Best omakase I’ve had. Highly recommend!

Chef Teru is an extremely gifted chef. This jewel of a restaurant will receive much recognition soon. A must to visit.

Delicious meal! Authentic Japanese Omakase experience! Definitely a pricey meal/experience, would go here again for a special occasion, i.e. Anniversary or Birthday. Would recommend, especially for NYC area! Thank You Sushi Teru staff and Chef's we appreciate you.
