   We ate at Stephanie's many times a year back when we lived in Boston over a decade ago. This is the first time we've returned in that long and were so sad to see it is just a plain old tourist trap now. The food was terrible and the service even worse. Our waiter accused us of mis-ordering twice when we had to correct what was sent to our table. The clam chowder looked and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours and when our over-easy egg arrived with raw egg-white all over the plate, the waiter told us that's how we ordered it. The interior is broken down, dated and dark and the music they were playing would be better suited for a fraternity party. Honestly the most disappointing meal we had all week (including the disgusting sandwich we bought at a Mass Pike rest area).

   This isn’t the Stephanie’s on Newbury it used to be. It’s more like a dinner atmosphere now, one where you bring your kids on a Friday night out. Food was fine but nothing special. The bacon on my burger was burnt, literally black, but it was cooked how I wanted it med rare. Service was crap though and instead of taking ownership of error in getting us drinks blamed it on the printer at the bar running out of paper. I’m not sure I would go back again as we we’re looking for a nice evening out at a good restaurant and this just wasn’t it anymore. Fact the servers used to wear white button down shirts with crisp black aprons, now they wear dirty polos that say Stephanie’s on the back like you would see at Jonny rockets.

   I was there for lunch on a Friday and erroneously, on my part, was expecting a brunch menu. Thought menu was boring. Chopped salad had great ingredients but was tasteless. When I asked for pepper, I was given an ordinary pepper shaker. They have no pepper mills. Drinks were fine, but when I ordered a Bloody Mary, server asked if Tito's was OK. I said sure, not know that it was an upcharge. she should have been more specific. I thought $15 was high. Don't know what cost would be for the same drink using their house vodka. I won't be back.

   The food was decent but service was lacking. Out of water, cocktails empty, trying to flag down waiter numerous times. I'd expect more pay $100 plus for a meal!
