Stella represents an expression of artistry across the mediums of cuisine, art, and design. Italian for ‘star’, Stella is inspired by the traditions of the traveling hearth of the coastal and pastoral communities of Southern, Central, and Northern Italy, enriched with local, seasonal California ingredients.

A creative collaboration between restaurateur, Janet Zuccarini, and Executive Chef Rob Gentile, Stella brings modern twists on age-old Italian culinary traditions to West Hollywood.

Inspired by 1950s Italy and created by award-winning designer Wendy Haworth, the restaurant features bold architectural details, rich woods, and vintage-inspired furniture. The multi-level restaurant is complete with private dining rooms and an intimate terrace.

With an emphasis on unique dining experiences at every turn, Stella offers a refreshing take on time-honored Italian recipes, where the quality of ingredients takes center stage.

From the OpenTable editors: Restaurateur Janet Zuccarini and formerly Toronto-based chef Rob Gentile joined forces to create Stella, a gorgeous restaurant that takes its design cues from mid-century Italy. The menu is all about Italian opulence, from beautifully presented crudos to silky handmade pastas to fresh truffle-topped Roman pizzas to meats from the wood-fired grill. We had heard so much about this restaurant that I decided to make it a “date night” for my partner and I. We arrived on time. The hostess was beautiful and friendly. They sat us at the Chefs counter as requested. We got our water right away. After that the experience left a lot to be desired. From the moment we ordered our cocktails it took 15 minutes. Then the bread arrived and it was very dry. The Chef walked by several times and unlike other Chefs that engage you he looked at us and kept working. It took 60 minutes before we received our first course: a salad. It took another 30 before we received the steak and squash vine. Champagne could have been colder. The experience was over 2 hours and the services was very lacking. I got up at one point to order more water. Had the service been better the bar tab could easily had tripled and we would have ordered dessert. Too bad. Back to Bianca and Capo when I want food Italian food in LA.

I’ve had the pleasure multiple times to visit however accompanying guests whom are Italian changed my experience. The food selection was outstanding, sommelier was spot on with his recommendations as well. Food was exceptional this time. Great seating, could not have been more pleased.

I usually dine at Cipriani, Tower Bar, Nobu Malibu, Milano, Catch Steak, and Polo Lounge, but I found the food here to be overpriced. The pasta was too al dente and overly salty—I woke up twice just to drink water. Our table was uncomfortably close to the restroom, which made for a busy and unpleasant dining experience. A table should not be placed in such a high-traffic area. The valet parking was also inconvenient. Most places charge around $20, even Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills is $14, but here, you have to pick up your car from a building ramp exit, which felt unnecessary. The drinks were disappointing—my Singapore Sling had no alcohol and tasted like watered-down lemon soda. Overall, I expected a more enjoyable experience. The waiter seemed overwhelmed with too many tables, and we had to remind them to remove our empty plates after the salad.
