   This place deserves 6 stars. Our favorite place in San Diego, not only because of the food, but also because of the STELLAR service. We will come back again and again and again.

   We have had the pleasure of eating at Steak 48 several times recently. While it is clearly important to talk about the food in a restaurant review, the element that truly stands out is service. From the time you drop your car at the valet and walk into the hostess area and then taken back to your table, to the captain brings your bill, the level of touch and care is rather extraordinary. And as we have repeated, the level of care seems to increase as the wait staff has incredible memories for detail and go out of their way to make sure you know how much they appreciate your coming back. One anecdotal example of the level of service happened a few nights ago when my wife quietly told another guest at our table that the AC was directed on her and she was getting a bit chilled. A few minutes later, the area captain walked up with a shawl and asked my wife if this might make her a bit warmer. We did not see any wait staff around the table when my wife made the comment, but clearly someone heard it, passed it along, and a fix was delivered. Major positive impression. As to food, the menu is truly extensive and the wine list is robust--even the standard one on the back of the menu has great options (before you even open the reserve list). The appetizer list is huge, not even including the seafood tower and caviar options. Steak variety is bountiful and all have been cooked to our request. We have also tried several seafood entrees and all have been spot on. After dinner options have provided a variety of options and all have been very good. Lots of different seating options from regular tables to glassed-off booths and private dining rooms. For me, the noise level is a bit high, but not glaringly so. It is difficult to find faults with this restaurant. We recommend it heartily.

   If you've NOT you have to give S48 a shot, it's our new restaurant - why? several reasons - the facility is contemporary in design and just fun. Interacting with staff on your to your seat is top notch shows commitment to C-service. Food experience is flat out cool and table staff are as professional as it gets. Give'um a try...

   Overall, it was an AMAZING experience except that the music was way too loud. It would have been perfect if they turned it down a notch. We did tell one of the wait staff but was told that the volume is preset. The food was VERY expensive but delicious. ALL of the wait staff were exceptional. It was wonderful experience for a special occasion.

   We 1st discovered Steak 48 in Scottsdale and were delighted when Del Mar opened last year. We have dined here a few times since opening, never disappointed, and were especially impressed this time around with our server, Armin. The high quality food & preparation, red carpet treatment, valet, and top shelf service brings us back for special occasions. This night, we were celebrating a birthday...Armin brought the highest quality service, information and timing to make our experience sweet. I appreciate that he had better than average wine knowledge and tested me on the wines :-). I guessed correctly and he continued to enhance our experience by placing our salad orders quickly then finishing our entree order and accompaniments. The timing was perfect and something that I have come to judge with "other places." We have come to the conclusion that we cannot go wrong ever by choosing Steak 48 for our favorite dining experience. We have a lot of great options in North County, but they are hit and miss service wise. This is 10 out of 10. If I had to complain, it would be that the corn brulee got too hot/toasted on the heated plates.

   The food was spectacular! Everything we’d heard about was true! The restaurant was beautiful! Service was refreshingly fabulous. Everybody from server to maitre’d to busers to valet were all professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Loved everything about our evening. It was wonderful way to celebrate a birthday. If I had to suggest an improvement, it would be to maybe not wax the floors so well. It made them slippery and with sliding levels, it made it a bit difficult to navigate without my husband’s arm. :) Will definitely be going back.
