   Went here for dinner tonight. Got there at 6 pm, and was told to wait 20 mins since we had no reservation. 6:22pm comes, and we ask again... another 20 mins. Okay.. we wait until 6:42 pm and we were told we just have to wait since we have no reservation. First off, I understand we do not have a reservation, however, please do not string us along to basically force us to wait by telling us "another 20 mins." We finally get our table at around 7 pm. Our server was very nice and friendly. The food, however, was not. I ordered their special of beef tips aged for 48 hours, and it was the driest piece of meat I have ever had, and Paella was subpar and cold. I have been to Spanish restaurants towards Newark and recently been to Spain and the food here was meh. Overall experience was very poor from the hosts up front and the overpriced food that was poorly executed ($150 for 3 people - 2 entrees and 2 apps). Can't fathom ever coming back, and will continue to direct people who come out to dinner with me to go to Echo Tap Grille.

   Great menu. Well prepared and great tasting food. Service was excellent.

   We hadn't been to Spanish Tavern in years. We found it okay. The food was fine, a bit on the salty side. The seafood was unevenly cooked. In the same dish, some lobster was perfect other was overcooked and dry. Best things: grilled octopus appetizer, side of rice, chocolate mouse cake. Don't bother with the tres leches cake; somehow it managed to be dry with a soggy bottom (served in a puddle of sweet milk). It seems to a good place for large parties; several birthdays and anniversaries when we were there.

   Really disappointing - I had read about the great paella but it was mediocre at best both seafood and non seafood one - service was horrible despite a full staff - getting olive oil or a water refill was an act of congress - very disappointing Place that seemed proud to tout their reviews and ratings but didn't deliver on the hype

   It seemed to be an off night. They were out of a few menu items and the service was extremely slow. We have enjoyed this place in the past and will return in the future.

   Great Spanish restaurant off of Route 22 in Mountainside. Friendly staff. Has valet parking. Food is excellent. Had the lobster with soft shell crab.

    We love Spanish Tavern. Over the years, it has become a family favorite for birthdays and special occasions -- so I'm a longtime fan!
