   Me and one of my close friends went here for dinner and a few drinks, unfortunately there was no live music. However, the food was nice and the overall vibe of the restaurant was good, service was ok food did take a while to come out.

   Our waiter Angel deserves a pay rise and a host position or something along those lines as she pretty much made our whole night. I’m not saying it was terrible, as the food was pretty good but a limited menu overall and the drinks were okay. I suppose for me, I just felt like I’ve booked this venue for our anniversary and the vibe was just off. There were charges for watching the music, which weren’t mentioned in the booking fees. Which is kind of awkward, because it’s not like you can’t see/watch the music with the way the venue is set up. That being said, we were placed originally on a table in an amongst literally everyone that was in dining at that time, which I found very odd bearing in mind I’d emailed ahead and explained that it was an anniversary. When we asked to change tables, we were initially placed on a separate table at the back of the venue, right behind a pole which made absolutely no sense as we then couldn’t see the music that we had paid for. So we had to ask to move table again. Overall the music is very loud, which I think is fine but when you are dining, perhaps something with a few less decibels or begin the music slightly later when most people have finished dining. The music was okay, but definitely not as good as or what we’re used to for a jazz café/restaurant. I think the icing on the cake (there’s irony here) is that I had emailed the head to you. Explain it was an anniversary and asked if something could be done with the desert for this. To which I was told yes they could decorate the play et cetera however my partner didn’t know that I had done this, so then when he asked the team if they could decorate the plate for our anniversary, they said they didn’t know if this would be possible. Which I found really odd considering emailing the venue prior to the booking. All in all, experience wasn’t terrible, but as you can understand it wasn’t great. If it wasn’t for Angel , I think we would have felt even less enthusiastic about it.

   Fantastic venue great night with entertainment. It's going to be my go to venue in Stratford, not just for the wings!!

   The new take on doubles tasted good and was more like a taco using one of the doubles. Being Trini I would have preferred to at least have two of the doubles part as is tradition but I like the beef filling. The lamb next and roti was good too but hhe soul rice and jerk salmon lacked flavour. They had some trainees serving so still significant improvements need there in knowledge and customer service But overall was nice It might be better to go for the brunch or when they have music rather than food

   Be warned, the restaurant charges per person for the music. This would have been fine if this was clear from the booking so to have an extra £120 added to the bill (not including service charge) was a bit of a shock. The managers attitude was equally disappointing. On a plus side, the menu had good vegan options and the food was decent.

   I had such high hopes for the restaurant and sadly these hopes were shattered. I had arrived slightly early for the booking- 5:40pm, the booking was for 6pm. When asked if I could enter the restaurant I was told to wait (in the Gantry foyer) as the waitresses seemed to be preparing for the evening. I was surprised at this as I would have expected to at least be directed to the bar and for apologies, not to just wait outside in the hotel reception area. Once we could enter the restaurant my friend & I were left standing waiting for our table for at least 10 mins! Another big group were also waiting around too. Once seated we were served by a waitress who was lovely but unsure of who should be serving us. She informed us about the restaurants policy too “As it is show night a contribution must be paid.” My friend wanted to confirm how one would know when it’s a show night, and that a contribution should be made. Apparently this is stated on the policy. I made the booking and most definitely did not recall reading such a price. I remember seeing £25 fee for cancellation. The same waitress was unsure of two things. 1. When the show actually started. 2. How much the contribution was. She confirmed with the manager it was £15. We had no plans to stay for the show but were disappointed as we felt we now were on a timer to order food and finish our meal so we weren’t charged. As the waitress told us even if you stay for a minute you’re charged (as my friend had posed this question). The initial waitress handed over to another waiter of our section. He was new & unable to answer any questions we had regarding food recommendations. He also didn’t bring us a receipt and told us to work out how much our food was and when he did bring a receipt it was the wrong one!!! We then moved to the tills for fear of being charged. When speakingto the manager about our experience it was awkward and she was quite condescending towards my friend. So overall an unpleasant experience!

   We were a party of 15 celebrating a birthday. The party was split into two tables with some guest having to share with non-party guests. Due to the party size our food had to be pre-ordered to make things easier on the day. This did not happen! There was still major confusion between peoples food orders there were mains arriving on the table before starters. Guests that never received any food, food that never arrived. I understand there were a lot of staff on trial shifts on the day which may have lead to some confusion. The wings were very tasty for those that received them. The live music and DJ on the day provided a great atmosphere. I would return but would need to have better service and organisation on the day.

    The music aspect of the evening was fantastic. However the food was a different matter. I observed the chef picking up the wings with his hands. The food was warm not hot. The plantain was uneatable. The rice had a strange taste like it was going off. I think that your servers need to be trained in how to serve food . Holding the rice bowl and having you hand over it is unacceptable. Leaning over guest is unacceptable. There is a correct way to serve food. Have a small trolly would help. Also seating large groups bearing to the serving area would make like easier for the servers. And finally ensuring that all charges are made clear on your marketing material. But overall the music was fantastic and made up for our dining experience.
