   We are frequent patrons of Song e Napule and have celebrated multiple birthdays and special occasions at the restaurant. Last night’s dinner experience was underwhelming. The restaurant ran out of bresaola and my usual squid ink linguine had clams that were not fresh. Service was slow despite being mostly empty. The pizza chef was doing a pizza making class and so we had to wait 15-20 min for our dessert, Nutella pizza. Overall the restaurant was not at its best service and food wise. Made for a rather disappointing birthday dinner for my husband.

   The brunch is a great addition to this gem of a restaurant. Must haves are the following: Panettone French Toast Bombolone w either Crema tiramisu or Crema pasticcera Steak sandwich on focaccia bun w spicy mayo Calamari — seriously the best we’ve ever had— that aioli sauce drizzled on top is the bomb And of course… the pizza is always a must have. We also enjoy the Bellini and cappuccino

   I have been here many times and the food was delicious. This time the calamari had something stringy in several of the larger ones. There were also small bones in the anchovy entree. The server was accommodating by replacing the calamari but the replacement was prepared the same way. The noise level was very high this time. Music was playing but difficult to hear it . It could have been an off night. We will try again.

   tried this place for the first time, we were seated immediately and ordered cocktails. aperol spritz and negroni, both were good and reasonably priced. we wanted to try a few things and ordered a margherita pizza and gnocchi to start. my wife ordered the chicken scaloppine and i had the branzino. we asked for the gnocchi & pizza first and then the entrees. the gnocchi came out first and was plentiful and flavorful. we waited for the pizza while enjoying our cocktails. the wait for the pizza continued and before that our entrees were served. following that we cancelled the pizza. our server who said it was her second day apologized for not putting it in. having finished my cocktail i asked to see what wine was available and our server returned with the menu. i told her what i wanted and waited for it to be served. i started in on the branzino and hoped the wine would arrive in time for me to have it with the meal. similar to the situation with the pizza it never arrived. our waitress cleared our plates and boxed the remainder of the chicken and returned with the dessert menu. i informed her we were not having dessert. she returned a while later with our bill and it included both the pizza and the glass of wine. we politely asked her to adjust the bill and was surprised i didn’t receive the wine. not sure why she reacted that way since there was no wine glass on the table. to sum things up with everything considered, we enjoyed the cocktails and the gnocchi, the entrees were carefully prepared and reasonably priced, but the lack of attention by the waitress was not something we could overlook. the place has a great vibe which should appeal to the younger crowd which was well represented at the surrounding tables. i don’t completely blame our waitress and when something like this occurs normally management gets involved but they could have cared less. it’s a one and done for us.

    This is the best Italian food in the NY/NJ. This is not Italian-American. This is real Italian food. If you’ve been to Naples than this place will feel very familiar
