Before Soltan Banoo opened its doors, Mahin and her two daughters Roxanne and Sanam ran Cafe Caspian across the street. Cafe Caspian, a tiny two room tearoom came about through the encouragement of the community for Mahin to express her creativity and cooking.So it went that in 2003, the trio moved operations across the street and named the restaurant after Mahin's grandmother, Soltan Banoo (King Lady). Today the three ladies work hard to create a warm place for all to gather, see a little of Iran (or Persia as it was at the time of Soltan Banoo) in University Heights and try Mahin's healthy, creative and eclectic homecooking.

We spent a tasty evening at Soltan Banoo before a play at the nearby Diversionary. The Persian food was delicious, the wait-staff was friendly, and the service was good. Thumbs up.

Food, service, atmosphere was great! We had a group of 6. We ordered 3 apps to start, hummus, dolmas and tabule. Most ordered the wild salmon plate (Friday, Saturday and Sunday special) for the entree and the curry. The food was delicious! This is great local restaurant with authentic Persian cuisine. Yum!

We are Persian and were so charmed by Soltan Banoo. Authentic setting like back home. The dishes were delightful- and each with a creative twist by the mother and daughters. Don't miss the Persian hot tea , babeh tabeh Iranian
