About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
Sinsa is a Korean American wine bar in the East Village that serves inventive remixes of classic Korean dishes with global influences. It is the sister restaurant to Rice Thief in LIC. The food is designed to pair with wine and cocktails, and the ambiance is warm and stylish. Some of guest favorites are the Kimchi Uni Toast, Wagyu Beef Tartare (Definitely add the caviar supplement!), Southern K.F.C., and of course, the Rice Thief which is an homage to their sister restaurant. The restaurant is named after the Korean word for "gentleman," and the staff strives to make guests feel welcome and cared for. Whether it's date night, a special occasion, or just a fun evening with friends, Sinsa is the place to go.

Food was so good. Maybe the best oysters we've ever had. We also had the sea bass, celery fries and rice thief. All three were delicious. The wait staff was quick and very helpful in choosing wines to go along with our food. Will definitely be back and with more friends next time

Sinsa is the perfect example of an outstanding food program combined with an excellent wine/beverage program come together in an approachable and enjoyable experience! The Sinsa team seamlessly and consciously crafted Korean-fusion throughout the food and drink menu which is really difficult to do right. My must-have food items were the rice thief (with uni add on) and the KFC fried chicken! Insanely good value. As someone also just learning about wine, the staff made my wine selection very easy and non-intimidating. The service is top notch, and staff is always super friendly and accommodating - it’s not hard to believe they were recognized on the Michelin guide just a few months after opening. So glad that I have a new spot to bring friends again and again in the East Village!

My new top Korean restaurant! All the dishes we tried were top tier and the service was excellent. Our waiter was super attentive, accomodating, and friendly. We ordered two drinks: the Seoul Sour & the Jeju Jewel. I personally loved the Seoul Sour, but would pass on the jeju jewel next time and try something else or a wine. I will say the drinks here are not very strong, so I wouldnt recommend the cocktails to anyone who likes a strong alcoholic drink. We started out with the scallop crudo, which was super light and refreshing. The sauce is very bright and it's a great dish to start off the entire meal. Next came the wagyu tartare and the uni toast. The wagyu tartare was PHENOMENAL. I usually dislike wagyu beef tartares because I find wagyu too fatty for tartare but this establishment conveys it perfectly. The shaved egg yolk, the mustard aioli & the crispy potato chip all come together for the most decadent bite. I wish I could eat this everyday! On the other hand, I really hoped the uni toast would deliver, but alas it did not. It was the one dish that intrigued me about Sinsa but half of the pieces were super briny and the uni did not taste fresh at all. The other two were good-- I liked the buttery toast and the uni. However, the texture of the kimchi with the uni was a little unsettling? But that's just a personal preference! We also ordered the Rice Thief, which you can never go wrong with! I will say it is a little underseasoned than the one at the sister restaurant, but still amazing. We ended the meal with one main: the donkatsu au poivre. And just WOW. The crispy panko crusted katsu was perfectly crunchy and cooked, and the sauce was the best thing I have ever tasted! It was super peppery (which I love) and was rich in flavor but light in texture. I did not feel it was super greasy, and the cucumber salad on top really lightened the dish up. Overall, I would 10000% come back and hope to try the rest of the menu!

Food portion is to small for its price. Flavors are okay. Wait time for each dish is way too long. All servers are nice.
