About this restaurant

  • Romantic
  • Good for groups
  • Neighborhood gem
Experience an authentic Gulf South Shrimp Boil while taking in the sights from our French Quarter Balcony overlooking Armstrong Park. Great for groups or a memorable date! We prepare the boil just the way our Grandparents taught us and serve it to you with all the traditional sides. And we always have a special guest appearance to entertain you.

This is more than just dinner, it’s a chat about our shrimp and our fishery, the meal and a show. Come as you are and sit at communal tables with other guests as you enjoy fresh Gulf Shrimp and Southern hospitality at our historic Vieux Carre property!

BYOB or you may purchase cocktails downstairs at Bar Tonique and bring to the boil. Never a corkage fee and we have a big bucket of ice to keep your beer or champagne cold.

Doors open on the dot and we start immediately, please be on time as hot shrimp wait for no one. The experience is $65 per seat plus tax and an automatic 17% gratuity which comes to $89 all inclusive per person.

Would have been nice to have been told where to go when we arrived. We were standing outside in the pouring rain and the restaurant looked closed. No one told us it was upstairs in the side door with no note on it to tell us where to go! It took away from the experience a bit.

The food is outstanding and there is plenty of it. The musician they had that night was spectacular. My only complaint is that it is incredibly expensive. I paid a total of around $90 and still had to bring my own drinks. If it wasn't so costly I would be inclined to go much more often.

We signed up for the special shrimp boil on a Friday night. It was fun that the doors didn’t open until exactly 7pm. The host then took us upstairs where the shrimp boil was already being prepped. The evening started with a description of the night’s menu. He explained about the shrimp selection and the entertainment. We started with a sample of alligator sausage which was pretty tasty. Then we had a simple biscuit which I would have liked more of. Then the shrimp with corn on the cob and sausage was brought out and literally dumped on the table. It was piping hot and well cooked. The corn was a little over cooked but there was plenty of shrimp to make up for it. I was surprised there were no potatoes in it. We had a nice pumpkin king cake for dessert. The entertainment was a singer with a “big voice” who played during dinner. The meal was good but not great and it was very expensive given some of the other meals I had while visiting the crescent city. It is BYOB which can be a real draw for some peopIn my opinion, you can do better for the price somewhere else.

This is by far the best kept hidden jewel in NOLA. The educational cooking lesson, the variety of ingredients, tasty food and atmosphere make this a truly enjoyable experience. Mr Gregory was so entertaining and the singer provided a great dining atmosphere.

You need to sign up for this! Small group, great food and a very welcoming staff. We spent the last 4 days eating at all of the recommended places in the French Quarter, and this is one of the best experiences. This was worth every penny!
