Sahara Restaurant was founded in 1982, with the first location in Ferndale, Michigan. The establishment has been owned and operated by Saad Attisha and his family since it’s first day opened. In 1987, New Sahara Restaurant moved its location to Oak Park and opened other locations in Sterling Heights, Farmington Hills and Shelby Twp. All of the Mediterranean, Chaldean and Middle-Eastern dishes are prepared fresh daily by a team of exceptional chef’s. There are various specialty Chaldean dishes on the menu that are created from timeless traditional recipes; that originate from the culture and heritage of the Chaldeans.

They were very kind in seating us promptly after we were late for our reservation because of when our show let out (which we called about). Atmosphere is lovely, server was very nice, although service was a little slow at times. Food was nicely presented and delicious. Fresh-baked pita was served. I would gladly visit again.

Horrible experience on Detroit Tigers Opening Day! We had a reservation and still waited 30 minutes. We were late for the Red Wing game because we waited over 40 minutes for food. We got our drinks 10 minutes after we finished dinner. Food is really good. Very unorganized staff and kitchen.

Had reservations before seeing Tina Fay & Amy Poeler at the Fox. The food was exceptional and their hummus with lamb is the best I’ve ever had. On a crazy day with the Tiger’s opening game and a hockey game at the same time the restaurant was hustling and yet our service was great and we were able to eat and get to the show on time. Will definitely return.

Well we were there for an hour and never got our drinks so.... We never even placed a food order.... Plus side, great place to sit down and drink free water!

We love fattosh salads and their's was the best we have ever had. Everything was fresh and presented as if photographed for a cookbook. It was a very pleasing experience. We saw there meat dishes being served and was amazed at the offerings and presentation also.
