   We always have a meal at the Sage Room when we’re in Tahoe. I always told people I go there for the service first and the food second. The location, overlooking Lake Tahoe is breathtaking. However, this last dining experience was a little underwhelming. While the food was still top notch ( and the view gorgeous), the service was not as good. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I felt in the past the staff were much more attentive during the entire meal than they were this time. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy and we were on one side of the restaurant by ourselves. While there are other name brand restaurants in the hotel, The Sage Room is our go to. We have celebrated so many special moments in our family at this restaurant and I really hope it’s around for a long time. I just think Caesars needs to put in a little effort to keep this iconic restaurant going and to bring it back to its heyday glory. Get it back to a true dining experience as it once was.

   We requested at table close to the window of which there were plenty closer than the booth they stuck us in whis was too big for an intimate diner. The wait station was right behind us, and we had to listen to them complain about each other. My wife steak was good, but my bone in New York steak had some chewy parts (gristly) to it. Added on some scallops to mine that did not show up. After asking for them, they showed up cold on the middle and mushy. Waiter never asked how the food was at any time. Won't be visiting the Sage Room any time soon. Disappointing.

   We were disappointed on this visit. The night started with my wife getting stabbed by a partially shattered seatback. Our serverJeremy handled it swiftly and apologized and offered assistance. A manager should have come over. Despite it not being busy at all, it took an hour to get our meal. The ribeye was 5 stars but the potato was overly cooked but still somehow cold…Jeremy took it off the bill. The gnocchi mac and cheese was fine.

   View is stunning! Even on a overcast day. Booth was perfect. Menu and specials were varied so lots to choose from. The oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail Butternut Bisque and French Onion soup were delicious. Pricey but expected for this area. There was an issue with their machines only accepting credit cards (no room charges or cash) but the restaurant called us an hour before our reservation to let us know. Looking forward to returning!

   This was an awesome meal! We didn’t look at the online menu so we’d decide what to have when we got there. The Sage Room has “updated its menu” from the “original” which caused us uncertainty the last time we visited. But this time, we were open to trying new things so it was better than expected!

    The Sage Room used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We have been coming to the Sage Room for over three decades. Every since the Top of the Wheel was closed. We unfortunately don’t live as close as we used to, so our last visit was two years ago. We saw that Harvey’s was doing a lot of renovations to their casino/resort. We also found that a lot of changes to the Sage Room’s menu. Old favorites like “Spinach Salad for two”, my wife’s favorites “Steak Diane”, and the dessert of flambé berries over ice cream are gone. My wife even asked the server if there was a “secret menu “. The server said that the menu was changed about ten months ago. They also said the menu was going to become more seasonal. I had the filet and my wife had the scallops with risotto. For dessert we had the banana fosters. The food was delicious. The view was amazing as it has been since the Sage Room moved from the casino floor to the top floor. We hope that the manager, or other leadership staff, in charge of the Sage Room don’t kill the Sage Room for another “celebrity chef” restaurant and the view that the Sage Room has.
