   Knowledgeable and friendly service from the wait staff, hosts, and the manager! Delicious food, we had the chilequilles, Yankee Pot Hash, and avocado toast with salmon and the lavender latte. The atmosphere was enchanting.

   Everything was just ok. Drinks were good but food was bland and overpriced. Would come back for drinks but that’s about it.

   Our waiter was the worst person we’ve ever encountered. We waited entirely too long for drinks and our appetizers. I would never revisit this establishment ever again.

   Rustic Root – A Must-Visit Gem in San Diego’s Gaslamp District We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Rustic Root. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. Our family of five shared several appetizers—bacon mac and cheese, wagyu meatballs, skillet cornbread, and southern-style corn—all of which were delicious and perfectly portioned for sharing. For entrées, we ordered the salmon, steak, and lobster pappardelle. While everything was excellent, the lobster pappardelle deserves special mention. It was, without exaggeration, the best pasta dish I’ve ever had. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced—I would honestly fly back from New York just to have it again. The atmosphere was young, energetic, and fun, with a great vibe that matches its prime location in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp District. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or a local looking for a memorable night out, Rustic Root is absolutely worth the visit.

   Came to enjoy Happy Hour before a show. The food and drinks were delicious. They had a big party going on and it didn't affect servoce at all. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu when we have more time.

   I wouldn’t return. I had a reservation for the rooftop and hostess gave us a table on the ground floor. She contradicted herself in explaining why she wasn’t honoring our rooftop reservation. I wouldn’t return.

   This was our first visit to Rustic Root and it definitely won’t be the last. Sat outside as the weather was perfect. Nice and comfortable sidewalk booths. We caught the tail end of happy hour which was a bonus with half price on our cocktails. Overall great food and service.

    We were visiting from NY and heard great things. So We made a reservation for the rooftop. When we arrived we requested to sit at the fire pit table and was told they were all reserved. We then requested to sit at a specific hii-top table that had more heat coverage [heating lamp]. The host advised we couldn’t sit at said table as the table was reserved for another group. I then advised that we too have a reservation and are here now… why couldn’t we have that table and place the next group at the table she was going to assign us to? She said let her check…they set up the table and sat us. The interested part is the fire tables remained open and she sat partied of 2 walk-ins at the tables. Our server was excellent…but the host set the mood for our experience. The food was good though!
