in April of 2008, restaurant iris opened its doors in midtown memphis as the lifelong dream of our chef and proprietor Kelly English and along with an amazing team achieved a special relationship with our community and helped usher in a new era of restaurant culture, along with our colleagues and friends in our town and industry. Our goal is to know not just how but why food ended up on a table and where and who it came from.

in 2018 we have taken a new look at who we are as a team and our collective vision of what restaurant iris is and should be. With a completely new lens through which we view our charge, we are excited to bring you restaurant iris, brand new again. We invite you to experience restaurant iris, simplicity at its most elegant. Iris was good, as it has been for years. However, if you've been to the "old" Iris before the renovations, you shouldn't expect the same as before. The food is fine but not quite as fine dining as it was before. The rooms are more open--so you're kind of sharing the meal with others (this isn't really the best setting for loud talkers). Everything I ate was good, but nothing blew me away like the old menu used to. Our waiter was fabulous, the drinks were good, and there weren't any issues. Compared to pre-renovation, I like this Iris less. However, if this is your only Iris experience, I'm sure it will be fine.

There’s a reason why everyone includes this restaurant on their best of Memphis. It’s an outstanding meal. I had shrimp and grits with a poached egg and it was delicious. It was a very nice Mother’s Day brunch. They might benefit from having one or two more things that could be for the non-meat eating or gluten-free crowd, as my wife had a delicious meal but she had to pull out some of the components due to her allergies. Even providing an option to toast would be a good add.

We had an amazing dinner! Mary Katherine was an excellent server! We both had the Waygu beef and it was great!! My only complaint is that we wanted the oyster stuffed steak we had when we were here several years ago. We will definitely go back!!!
