Repeal is Whiskey Row’s only oak-fired steakhouse, located at the birthplace of J.T.S. Brown & Sons Bourbon Company in Louisville. A stylish departure from a traditional steakhouse, Repeal uses a wood-fired grill stoked daily with reclaimed American Oak bourbon barrels. Repeal is a tribute to the Repeal of Prohibition – a place to see, be seen and celebrate the rich tradition of the building in which it resides.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent dinner at Repeal. We sat for an hour at the great bar before our reservation and enjoyed wonderful cocktails and a delicious appetizer. Our meals (Barrel cut Filet, Dover Sole) were perfect. Service from Josh and team was fantastic. We will be back and will highly recommend.

We do enjoy dining here, the atmosphere is nice and their menu is amazing. Service however is ridiculously slow. Didn’t order a second drink because they didn’t come by to check on us. Didn’t order dessert for the same reason. By the time they brought the check we had to leave.

The filet was very tender. They cooked it similar to Pittsburgh style with a charred crust on the outside. I would order medium rare if you like medium as the steaks were a bit overcooked. The sides were tasty, but not served warm enough for our table’s liking; barely room temperature. The appetizers were wonderful. We had the tuna and oysters Rockefeller. We loved the bread. Round and fluffy on the inside like cake with salted top. The wine and spirits menu was very nice. Overall, a very pleasant experience, but not sure if it was worth driving downtown.
