We overall had a good dinner. Except for 1) timing - all but one item came rushed out of the kitchen nearly all together which was overwhelming when we did not know they would do that here and 2) the dungeness crab was good but small - we buy it frequently to enjoy at home and that was not a 2.5 lb crab - if anything it was 1.5 lb and we were charged for 2.5 lb --if you are going to order fresh shellfish here ask to see it before you have them cook it. Otherwise, the food was prepared well and tasted good.

Duck Duck Goose: Got the Peking duck for dinner as highly recommended. They bring the entire duck to the table and carve in front of you. Duck was fantastic as advertised so no regrets there. But as a previous reviewer stated they only carve you up about 25% of the bird. They started wheeling the remainder of the duck back to the kitchen. We stopped the server and he said the rest of the meat and carcass was to be used for broth and soup. So you literally lose most of the duck meat. So if your fine paying $118 for 1 duck serving go for it. But I was highly disappointed to find out that we didn’t even get half the meat I felt we paid for.

Looked forward to hosting 5 other friends at Red Plate after reading so many great reviews. Based on reservation availability (which I had booked weeks in advance) the place was far from full. When I mentioned to our server that for sure we wanted to order the Peking Duck, I was informed this was an “advance order” requirement. I gave mild pushback to this comment, indicating there is nothing on the reservation confirmation or on Open Table that an “advance order” was necessary; our server said he would check and see if they might have an extra one, which they did. We ordered a variety of other food as well, all shared family style, including a “fresh fish of the day” which was a cod from Australia. When the Peking Duck arrived, it was presented to our table fully cooked. After everyone oohed and ahed at how big the duck was; it was then taken by the serving team to a separate table to be carved up. We were then presented with the Peking Duck already put together in rolls, with all ingredients already added to each of the rolls, and no duck carcass (which makes for better picture taking for sure :). After we all had several of the already prepared Peking Duck rolls, we noticed that the pancakes were super thick and little to no duck, in fact, the only part of the duck in the roll was duck skin. We then started to unroll the remaining Peking Duck rolls to find only skin in each and every roll. So, for $110 Peking Duck, you only get the skin…. The other surprise came with the bill; the “fresh fish of the day” cod-from-Australia, that provided a small portion for each of our party, came to $400. In the end, we paid $1,280 (before tip) for 6 of us.

Great service, atmosphere and food. I ordered the Peking Duck and it was prepared perfectly and the table side service was great! My server Howie is what makes this place a must go for me. He gives great service as well as knowing the menu in and out. He is one of the best in my book!

Food was delicious! Our waiter, Howie was knowledgeable, personable, and accommodating. Beautiful setting, and I would definitely return. It was my wife's birthday, and she loves Peking duck, which I preordered as recommended. She says it was the best she has ever tasted! They also remembered that It was her birthday and provided a complimentary birthday dessert that we all shared. Truly made it a special night to remember.
