About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Romantic
  • Good for groups
A royal feast awaits you at Re Sette, transporting guests to another era with exquisite design and elegant Southern Mediterranean cuisine. Downstairs, the 1,800-square-foot restaurant offers seating in an intimate dining room, lounge and bar. Guests enjoy a grand entrance, with a vaulted ceiling and long mahogany bar that features an expansive menu of grappa, the favored drink of Italian kings. The designs regal influences are seen throughout and conjure an opulent time: jewel-toned tapestry-covered chairs dimly lit ornate candelabras and deep Naugahyde banquettes against brick red textured walls.

The food was great, but food took so long and it was difficult to get water refilled or drink orders.

We happened upon ReSette while casting about for a moderately-priced place to have dinner on a recent Saturday night in midtown. The interior is quirky but very inviting, with a casual family-friendly vibe that's not TOO noisy. The menu is mostly classic Italian fare, prepared well, with very generous portions. The eggplant parmesan was excellent. My husband had the veal entree (Milanese), which was ENORMOUS -- breaded veal practically the size of a dinner plate. Excellent service. We will be back.

As Italian restaurants go in midtown Manhattan, I rate ReSette, in the middle. Everything was tasty, but the meat ravioli in brown sauce was a home run. It was on a different level than the chicken parm , which surprisingly doesn't come with a pasta side. There was nothing on the dessert menu that was original, so we passed, and had dessert elsewhere. Still, the staff is friendly, the food arrived timely and the ambience allows for conversation. We had a pleasant visit, but just nothing beyond other Italian restaurants.

great service from Jimmy. Enjoyed all aspects of our experience--ambiance, friendliness of staff, food, and reasonably priced. We each had a different dish with NO complaints! Decent portions, flavor, and presentation. Tried two desserts and enjoyed those as well!

We just haopened to make a last minute reservation for a party of 6 and were very pleased we found this place. From the initial reception of the matre di, to the bar service right to the wait staff, everyone was exceptional, attentive and polite. The food was off the charts good! Hommade pasta and Sunday gravy to the brick oven pizza we ordered as a starter, everything was great. We sat on the ground level which was a busy but not overwhelmingly loud. The offser upstairs seating for a quieter experience. Restooms were clean. All in all, great little place to enjoy a good meal at resonable prices.

For years Re sette used to be my go to place before broadway shows, however I will not be returning ever again. Previously, I went for the romantic ambiance, delicious food, and great service. When I went this time I felt like I was sitting in time square the lights were so bright for an evening meal. They were playing pop music and the entire menu changed. Additionally we ordered two appetizers and only one of them came out. We only realized when we got our main courses. When we told the waiter he didnt say a word and just walked away. We also asked for cheese for our pasta and he returned 10 mins later when we were almost done with our meals. The pasta itself was incredibly salty, specifically the special which was parpadalle with beef tips. Im so disappointed that the Re sette I used to go to is gone. I would not recommend this place considering there are so many options in this area.

3rd time at ReSette and it hasn’t lost its charm. I had the hanger steak and it was super delicious. My husband had the pasta Bologna’s and it was very good. Servers were very attentive.
