Nestled on a side street behind the Atheneum, Queequeg’s offers a romantic spot for dinner in a fun bistro setting with an intimate bar scene. The cozy dining room with its warm color scheme and eclectic artwork radiates comfort. Our patio is a fun retreat from the hustle and bustle of town. Owners John Keane and Caroline Montgomery chose the name in reference to Melville’s character from “Moby Dick.” In the book he is described as a good looking young man, in the prime of his life, alive today…we’re sure he’d be a regular. Our menu pushes the envelope of “American Eclectic” and takes you on a culinary voyage that blends home style comfort food with European flavors. Our chef has honed his skills to the point where every bite resonates with love-it-in-an-instant flavor. In the heart of downtown, open year-round, Queequeg’s is the local secret that’s finally out.

The salad was too overdressed and the shrimp scampi was inedible, way too greasy. Friends enjoyed their meals especially the brussel sprout salad, which was terrific.

It was a really cold night but this place provided all the comfort and warmth we needed. Becky took wonderful care of us and accommodated all of our requests. I think the entrance door needs a better strategy for the approaching winter so that the cold doesn’t blast in at every person getting in or out. We love this place! Thank you for a beautiful night to remember!

Truffle fries were crispy. Seafood stew was extremely flavorful and a huge portion. The wait staff was very attentive. Loved the atmosphere. Would definitely go back next time on island.

We ate outside on a beautiful fall night. Nice pleasant server. Food was delicious and I loved the chocolate lava cake dessert.

Delicious meal served in attentive fashion. Waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about items. Shrimp scampi was very flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend it. Pasta bolognese was also delicious. Very nice place with a nice ambiance. Would recommend this restaurant.
