Prime 16 first opened in April 2008 by Bob Potter, bringing the highest quality beef burgers and craft beer to downtown New Haven. In a city known nationally for pizza, along with being the birth place of the hamburger, Prime 16 has evolved from gourmet burgers and expanded its scratch kitchen to offer more gastropub style food. All our sauces, dressings, specialty ketchups and mustards are made in-house. We use only All-Natural beef raised by a family of farmers committed to sustainable and humane practices. All our Angus beef is traceable and meets the highest standards. The burgers were very good, cooked to each of our requests. Sweet potato fries and interesting tater tots both very good. Hit the happy hour wine prices which made everything even better. Very personable and attentive staff!!! Only negative is we went on a Saturday night and the restaurant (as well as the whole area) was crowded with a NOISY student crowd. Very loud level in the restaurant.

Nachos were an embarrassment, literally 13 tortilla chips with cheese. When the waitress brought them out and looked at them, she actually laughed. Raw hamburger for my child, had to send it back. Never ever going back to Prime 16. Please refund my entire check.

We actually didn’t eat there. We made the reservation and requested an outdoor table. When we arrived, the only outdoor table available was tiny, and the hostess said they don’t actually take reservations for outdoor tables. Okay, but that ought to be clearer somewhere on open table because we aren’t willing to eat indoors right now. We left. We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, and will try again post Covid, if that time ever comes.

Great dinner as always. Nothing like the smoker burger! It never disappoints. We were also very impressed with our server. Although he mentioned in conversation he’d only been working there 3 weeks, he was so courteous and knowledgeable it seemed as though he had been there for years. Looking forward to going there again soon.
