We have dined at Preston's at least a dozen times in the past year, both for Happy Hour and Dinner in the Main Dining Room. It's our very favorite neighborhood restaurant and each time we are happy to respond with wonderful reviews about the food, the service and the atmosphere. Last evening was not as special. Sometimes, in any restaurant, when the regular chef or key staff does not show up ... things are not as perfect. Three of us enjoyed a dozen oysters to start and they were fresh and served with Preston's wonderful fresh bread. Two of us enjoyed the best white sangria and the others ordered their favorite bar beverage. All is good except we did not feel our selection of Happy Hour or Shareable Entrees were as good as previously enjoyed. The Firecracker Shrimp were just fried bland shrimp, the Rhode Island Style Calamari was just fried calamari and did not have cherry peppers, baby corn or any citrus vinaigrette ... just fried calamari and a mild dip. Our guests had a meatball shareable which she said was very filling and took home most of the dish. I have a feeling she was being polite since this was a new restaurant we were introducing her to. However, her husband appeared to enjoy his burger. Pleasant evening just the same ... just an off night for the kitchen.

I had the Gorgonzola encrusted Delmonico and the wife had the rack of lamb. Sides were the classic Mac and creamed spinach…. Everything was cooked to perfection. Desert was the keylime pie and was good but not over the top…Absolutely one of our favorites spots in the valley for a date night and will return again and again.

Wonderful experience from the minute you walk in. The hostess was friendly and engaging and we were seated promptly for our reservation. Our waitress (Jen) was at our table almost immediately and when she approached us she knew our names and had some wonderful recommendations. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

As usual, terrific. However--- They took the smoked prime rib off the menu except Sundays. I drive here specifically for the Prime Rib. So you're losing my business unless it's a Sunday which isn't often. Very big mistake taken it off the menu. We bring everyone here for the prime rib. Now we will find another restaurant.
