Portello Rosso Melbourne is located right in the heart of the CBD. Portello Rosso is an eclectic, wonderfully cosy laneway restaurant on Warburton Lane where the welcome is warm, the classical tunes await and, most importantly for us, the gourmet Spanish tapas and drinks list are great. You’ll be able to pair some speciality Spanish tapas with a cocktail or two, a combination that’s unbeatable for taking the edge off in what is one of the coolest bars in the Melbourne CBD. Located upstairs in a heritage-listed warehouse and featuring romantic balcony tables and a shared long table, it’s a dining experience you don’t want to miss. The very best times are guaranteed so to avoid any disappointment it’s definitely best to reserve a table in advance.

    The venue is adorable, the ambiance is fitting with retro Spanish music, great drink menu and wine selection, but the service is bad. 1) I was recommended a side potato dish to go with the top selling pork dish which already has potatoes in it 2) Either the chefs don’t seem overly competent or it falls on the servers as the main pork dish that’s supposed to be the top seller at the restaurant took well over 35mins to come out partially cold. When I sat down there was one other table in the place and I beat the dinner rush so I’m really not sure why my food wasn’t at least reheated properly. 3) It took me 20 mins to try to get anyone’s attention to be able to pay. The set group menus might be a different story. Wouldn’t personally recommend unless you’re really looking to take your time.
