   We enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner at Port Lympne & everything was fantastic - including the walk up to the mansion with the tree in the front full of lights - the staff are very welcoming & helpful, the food was superb and the mansion itself is wonderful with fantastic murals in most of the rooms & of course the story of the mansion itself is fascinating. Highly recommended. P.s. We had to change our dinner date at the last minute, due to sickness, and the staff were totally sympathetic and accommodating.

   The food was great but the service was just awful. We arrived and had a drink in the bar before hand. One of the waitresses shouted at another about how we should be sitting in the restaurant. They were fully booked with Christmas parties so when the parties arrived every single waitress and bar staff went to serve the parties and the restaurant was left unmanned for quite a while. They shouldn't take restaurant bookings if they know they are not going to have enough staff on to serve. The food itself was exceptional and it was just let down by the service.

   Granted it was a Sunday evening in winter but to find the place was a mission. Having reached the security gates (and received directions) the car park was eventually located which involves a couple of hundred metres of cross country work in the dark to the door. Ladies are advised to bring wellies and gentlemen torches and umbrellas. There you will find nobody as the whole place is deserted. If you persevere down the corridor and eventually turn right you will find the restaurant. If the intention is to cater for non-residents some form of signage somewhere would be very helpful. this from the main road - never mind the car park. Having ordered the wine, not shown the bottle, having it opened, wine sploshed into the glasses from a dizzy height and asked if I wanted the "lid" on or not was I confess a new experience which added an interesting start to a colourful evening. The menu and wine list is very limited. Having said that the ambience is excellent, the Xmas decorations stunning, the presentation of the food above average and the four dishes we had of at least average quality. The prices are not however average. Either the management should make a serious attempt to train some personnel and make it "user friendly" to non-residents or it should just stay as a hotel restaurant for guests only.

   We dined here whilst staying in Hog's Creak shepherds' huts and had a very enjoyable meal and evening. We had pre-drinks and after-dinner coffee in very comfortable bar (in daylight hours, it also has magnificent views). The dining room is cosy and unique with it's animal-based murals; the food was very well prepared and tasty and service friendly and efficient. If staying at one of the different accomodation types at Port Lympne it's definitely worth treating yourself to a meal in the hotel restaurant.

   The food was excellent, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The mural in the main dining room is outstanding.

    In this most elegant setting you can treat yourselves to a relaxing Sunday lunch at a good price. The service is first rate and courteous, however it was the food which let things down very badly. When our lunch offering of roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and the usual vegetables arrived I knew straight away it was going to be a issue. I jokingly mentioned a defibrillator to my lunch companions and, in hindsight, should have complained there and then. The vegetables were delicious but I only managed 4 small nibbles of the raw beef. It must have been obvious to the staff since most of the meat was left, but nothing was said! The usual 'was everything OK' did not take place and we were all left very disappointed. I may return there if the chef manages to cook the 'English' way.
