Chef Ray watched his mother cook the most amazing traditional Jamaican food for years. After being raised in Jamaica, he came to the US at the age of 13. He found himself cooking the food his mother cooked, with his own twist, adding his own style and flavoring. Now, at the urging of his wife and daughter, the family has opened their own Jamaican restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg. Thanks Mom!

The food was amazing, so good. I'm West Indian and get picky about my Caribbean food. My friend had the chicken foot soup, which I usually don't even eat, but it was so flavorful. The wings and jerk shrimp were delicious. I had curry goat and oxtail with roti skins, rice & peas, and plantain on the side. So good. I asked for scotch bonnet sauce expecting Matouk's, and the chef had a homemade blend. It was just enough. Devoured my plate lol! Oh and their music was amazing. Drinks great. Visit them!

Very relaxed atmosphere. Ordering and pay primarily by smart phone but attentive staff ready to do it the old fashion way and answer questions. Excellent authentic Jamaican cuisine. A fun time! Not the fanciest space but matches the mood, loved it.

I found the having to look at the menu and order online complicated and impersonal. There needs to be better balance between personal and online service.

Pimenta has a nice, friendly vibe to it. Food is always pretty good. Unfortunately, there have been a number of times that my wife and I have come here and many of the items that are listed on the menu are not available. The last case being during restaurant week. Hope that changes.

I went during a weeknight so it was a lovely meal with great service. The waitress was very attentive. The food was hot and delicious with what I would call a medium "hot" level but my friend thought it was hot. The chicken was seasoned with spice and enjoyed the sauce as well cooked down. The rice was tasty with beans as a change to them.
